The "99p Stores" brand was one of the first big names to focus their sales around items that cost less than a pound and was founded at the beginning of 2001. In February of 2015, 99p Stores was bought out by their competitor Poundland and by the end of the year, the brand had defunct.
At their peak, there were as many as 220 99p Stores locations across the UK. Every store offered a unique variation of products including children's toys, healthcare products, groceries, and even pet supplies.
Some of the 99p Stores were directed at certain customers, such as their store located in Clacton which was aimed at tourists which was incredibly successful in its time.
