Named after the secretary of the male founder, Ann Summers can be found in many high streets across the UK nowadays and has enjoyed great success after launching in 1970. With the first store in Marble Arch, London, it took just one year to receive interest from investors who transformed the brand from a standard sex shop to a lingerie boutique. In 2017, they are thought to have 140 stores in the UK, Ireland, and even the Channel Islands.
Daughter of one of the new owners, Jacqueline Gold, soon introduced the Party Plan concept which has gone on to see millions of people take part in Ann Summers parties and products. In 2000, Ann Summers also made a huge move for the brand 'Knickerbox' which took everybody by surprise as it was a move that took them into the comfort-based underwear market for the first time.
