Modern and well equipped HSBC branch in the heart of Bristol town centre and specifically in Cabot Circus. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that helped with my credit card and current account issues. Will make this my local as decent parking nearby.

Trying to open a business account with HSBC was like a slow and painful death that never end... sort of like hell.
After 5 months of going back and forth with them - it's been over 3 months that they've been 'processing' our application... At this point I don't think it will ever be processed. I don't know what they're doing over there - probably just picking their noses.
Just cancelled our application... sick of waiting. Set one up with Lloyds in 10 days.
The worst part of it is that they are completely unreachable, incommunicable and don't tell you if there's a problem, it's a never ending chasing of problem whack-a-mole . Seriously, its like some sort of punishment the gods hand out.
We were given phone numbers, but no one ever picked up. We went into the branch twice to talk in person, but they were never there.
When I see HSBC now, all I think is: "RUNNNN!!!"

Unhelpful to say the very least. All female staff I saw we rude and never offered any help to my problem, talked to me like a piece of rubbish. Staff need to go a customer service course ASAP Problem solved eventually but will there be a lessons learned outcome form this?? I won't hold my breath.

Travelled all the way down to this city centre branch (they've closed all the local/suburban High Street branches to save money - never mind that forces customers to travel further) to try and open an account, after they advertise an inducement of £150 for switching. I spend about an hour and a half there (a lot of it waiting to see someone after they fluffed my appointment) because they insist on you being there in person to apply for an account, then they tell you they're not going to give you an account, but refuse to tell you why. Time wasters. Don't bother. I didn't even get offered a drink; what cheapskates. Abysmal customer service. They only want you if they think they can sting you for charges/extortionate interest for going overdrawn or failing to pay off your credit card bill. If you manage your money well, they're not interested in you. Why everyone hates banks.
