An essential and regular destination for the keen purveyor of used books; in addition to the vinyl, CDs, audio books, DVDs, and video games on offer. It is quite a challenge to leave this shop empty-handed. Overall, a good range of stock and a pleasant atmosphere conducive to an extended browse make this one of the best charity shops in Bristol

I once worked in this Oxfam bookshop. I remember playing Edith Piaff on an old record player and feeling the warm fuzzyness that do-gooding tends to induce. It's a romantic image perhaps but while manning a till unpaid was probably less enjoyable than I recall, I'm certain that this was a great shop. Situated on prime student territory means that a lot of practically brand new tomes were shed and sold on for a delightfully low price. There's a decent selection of vinyl, CDs and tapes as well and the (obviously) fantastic staff are always happy to help. Plus, you can't say no to supporting a charity can you?

It would appear that having done so well as a regular shop selling clothes and such like this charity megalith has turned to shops focussing on specifically book and music. The move has gone well with this number of Cotham Hill feeling more like a regular book store than a charity one. The range is incredible, and it's hard to believe all these books have come from donations alone. From fiction to non-fiction pretty much all topics and ideas are given at least a light sprinkling of attention. There's even a section on esoteric studies! This is a well stocked music and literature outlet that's quite rightly always busy.
