Have loved this place for years! Now, even though I don't live in Bristol when ever i come in I always make a visit - there is no where else like it esp for spices. And staff are always lovely too

Friendly place to shop, plenty of options/alternatives if you don't follow a conventional diet, lots of organic food, spices, and as the name alludes to, you can scoop away as alot of the ingredients are available sold by weight just bag them up and go!

Google maps says this shop sells raw milk. Sadly it doesn't

Such a lovely store with a really great manager who is really helpful and out going. Great selection of products, and has been going for a really long time.

This is a lovely shop with a great variety of products. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. I get refills for my Ecover bottles too. It is nice to get some quality products and do our bit for the environment too :-)

A great local store with a wide variety in organic, vegan and locally sourced products. I go regularly for refillable washing-up liquid and have always had a great customer service from the staff who are happy to go out of their way to assist you. Even more so now that we're lockdown, they remain open and willing to help you! God bless you guys ?

Always very nice folks working there and they will go the extra mile if asked: the manager ordered a bulk item for me and charged me less than the Better Food Company. It's a pleasure to shop there and it's important to support local traders :)

Scoopaway is a lovely little health food shop on Gloucester Road. It looks exactly as you'd expect a health food shop to look, but smells amazing inside, which not all do. I went yesterday to try and find a specific tea for my girlfriend, and couldn't stop taking deep breathes to take in the smell. You'll find lots of different teas, vitamins, natural supplements, dries fruits and lots of other guilt free goodies. Scoopaway gets its name from the big scoop buckets of all of the above, so you can buy as much as you like - which is a nice touch and sets them apart from other health shops. I was looking for moringa tea, and although they didn't have it, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.they gave the a flyer for somebody that would and asked me to let them know what it was like.

This is a fab little health food shop, it has all the usual items you expect such as herbal teas, various vitamin supplements, essential oils and free from foods. But the best and by far the most exciting bit is the huge drums full of goodies such nuts, cereals, herbs & spices, dried fruits and much more. They also have a pretty impressive range of coffee beans and teas as well. Rather than selling these products in bulky, label covered packaging you simply scope the required amount into little polythene bags, pay at the counter and take home with you. I bought a lovely little set of draws for my kitchen to put all the different herbs in and just makes for something a bit different to your usual herb rack. The staff are really friendly and on hand to help, and the Eco friendly ethos is carried through out the shop and fits perfectly with the Gloucester rd vibe.

You might assume that making your purchase by the scoop here means you're making a big saving over buying in a conventional store. But when I did a random price comparison on blanched almonds the other day the price turned out to be identical to those in the Co op next door. All I'm saying is, when you assume etc, so it's worth actually checking on your product of choice. I have also noticed a few tiny flies wafting around the open tubs of stuff in Scoopaway on occasion, and there's usually a little bit of spillage on the floor. With proper packaging comes proper hygiene, perhaps. On the other hand, the place certainly stocks stuff you can't find in the Co op, frozen spinach and tinned lychees for example. Having said that, some of the shelf space here is wasted on vitamins, supplements and homoeopathic remedies with which the gullible enrich their urine. As for the staff, despite what's said in the other reviews I've found them a bit on the frosty side myself. Probably I'm just not trendy enough to fit in!

Get herbs and spices here rather than at larger supermarkets as you can get the quantity you want at a much lower price.

This shop is fun to come into, especially when you want, oh, say, cashew nuts to munch on, but you don't want 100g bags, or 150g bags from the bigger supermarkets, but you want just the right amount that you know you need. It's like pick and mix, but with health foods. It's always quite fun and I usually walk out with more little bags than what I intended to go there for. They also stock other prepacked natural and organic foods, like pastas, gluten free cakes and biscuits, teas and all the rest. Not bad, but I'm never sure if I pay more here than I do at supermarkets, or less.

Scoopaway is practically next door to Tesco Metro on Gloucester Road, but is a whole lot more popular. Taking it's name from the scooper tubs, containing everything from grains and flour to nuts, fruits and seeds, these drums with their serving scoops are the mainstay of the business, but are by no means the full extent of what's on offer. Scoopaway is essentially a health food shop that stocks a few things that I don't seem able to get anywhere else in Bristol. They do a great soy sauce alternative containing all 22 amino acids, and vitamin E capsules by the weight, instead of the more expensive pre-packed options. I finally tracked down some Engevita here the other day, (a powdered yeast extract product that tastes infinitely better on toast than Marmite). It's taken me a good month to get my hands on some Engevita, and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of coming here first! These guys have been around for ages and really know what they're doing. They stock affordable organic products that they have concluded meet everyone's needs in the local community. But if there is something specific that you are after that doesn't happen to be in stock, they are more than willing to order it for you at no extra cost. These are people that care about what they are doing.
