We saw The Pony on Tom Kerridge and decided to visit whilst on holiday in Somerset. The setting is beautiful. We had a table beside the window which was good because it was a hot day. The trout starter was small and it would have benefited from a small piece of bread however it tasted delicious. Had the beef and the pork for mains and they were both excellent. The vegetables were well cooked, the cabbage was really tasty, the carrots were succulent and the roast potatoes were crispy with fluffy insides. Had cheese and summer fruits for dessert. The cheese was good, especially the ewe?s cheese. I agree with other comments- this place is not cheap however, it?s quality and there are plenty of pub carveries if you are simply looking for quantity. We would definitely come back if we were in the area.

We had an amazing Sunday lunch. One of the best I?ve ever had! Nothing was too much of a problem. They catered for our child who would not have eaten a roast. Service was efficient and friendly, food was delicious. The view and gardens was amazing. We will be going back.

We visited the restaurant for Sunday lunch with friends while travelling back from Anglesey to cornwall having seen it on Tom Kerridge does hospitality. Sadly we were very disappointed. Although the starters and roast beef were very good the pork was dry and was not a rack as advertised. The Yorkshire puddings were also burnt. We waited 25 mins after arrival to be served water and have a drinks order taken. Altogether not the experience we hoped for. Our comments were not well received by the senior waitress who made us uncomfortable about complaining and was too hasty in offering us a discount when that wasn?t our intention. We would have accepted not paying the discretionary service charge

Saw the Pony on Tom Kerridge doc and thought we would try it on our way back from Devon holiday. Setting is lovely and we sat on the garden patio area. Starters were a little disappointing as my cheese and onion tart at £12 was bland in taste. My wife had scallops at £14.. which were nice but only 2 small ones... should be 3 at minimum.. looked lost in the bowl. Mains were both good, I had Brill and my wife the pork, although not enough sauce with the Brill. Agree with others that is an odd atmosphere and staff didn't really do enough to make up for it... although we were early in the evening.

The newly refurbished restaurant is beautiful making the most of the stunning views. The service was very good, very attentive and efficient. The mussels and steak were excellent and for the most part so were the ploughman's lunches. However, we were somewhat surprised to have to ask for and pay extra for bread to go with the ploughman's lunch!

What a rip off Tom and you need to get a grip on your offerings as the majority of your customers are not from London town. So please adjust your menu prices accordingly thank you.

Sunday Lunch. you know its great when you are still thinking about it the next day. Great location, fantastic views, lovely garden. Well worth a visit.

£45.00 for a set Sunday lunch is in my eyes high so you expect quality, no part of my experience was quality apart from the view The lunch was no better quality than a cheap carvery & the service was very average, and to have to pay a £20 deposit a person is ridiculous for an eatery that serves mediocre food, the sign outside say's it all "walk ins available"

What a lovely revisit we had last Sunday in going to the refurbished Pony in Chew Valley. Our son took us for a late lunch .The beef and pork were oh so tender as I had never experienced before. The vegetables were fresh and lovely. The starter of terrine pistache was delicious and so were the puddings, especial the fruit berry compote with cream. The garden room looks so lovely with a beautiful view of the valley and their garden with its home produce. The car parking was spacious although the rain spoilt it a bit by producing mud. The waitress serving was perfect although it was at the end of the day and tiredness must have set in. Thank you so much for giving us a lovely meal. Neil and Elly Atkinson

Excellent food and service. Sourdough Focaccia was sublime. We all had fish perfectly cooked and flavoursome. The Choux Bun a must even if you think you don?t need dessert

Two weeks ago, we enjoyed celebrating our son?s birthday at a special fish and shellfish tasting evening at the Pony, formerly the Pony and Trap. (which we knew well) The Pony is a produce-led restaurant, cookery school and wedding event venue run by renowned chef Josh Eggleton and his sister Holly. The restaurant has undergone extensive refurbishment, and the dining area, reimagined as a country kitchen, is stylish, spacious and subtly decorated. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer spectacular views of the Pony garden with its wealth of vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers and, beyond that, the lovely green Somerset hills. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. Each course was an absolute delight, turbocharged with flavour and exquisitely presented. There?s another one of these wonderful evenings on Saturday, 29th July, and there?s a sample menu on their website, but this is a description of our menu. This first course was just a taste extravaganza, each element very different but complementing each other perfectly. We knew after this course that it was going to be the most wonderful culinary experience. It consisted of Maldon rock oyster, gooseberry, beurre blanc, wood-grilled Pony sourdough, taramasalata, trout roe and garden herb cucumber gazpacho. This was followed by wild sea bream, elderflower pickle, crème fraîche, fennel pollen. The sea bream was the most delicately flavoured ceviche and so delightfully presented. The third course consisted of Cornish crab cake, Pony garden salad and brown crab butter sauce. The crispy exterior contrasted beautifully with the soft interior, and the sauce was packed with flavour. The pièce de résistance was the succulent John Dory, Wye Valley asparagus, Yeo Valley whey and North Street Cider sauce. The flavours were sublime. And to finish a luscious, rich set vanilla cream and Rainier cherries. It was a beautifully curated menu, and the portion sizes were just right. It was perfect! Gabrielle @facesofclevedon

We came back after its been reopened. Views were stunning and the decor to the place was really nice. It was pretty empty and had zero atmosphere which was a little odd, no background music etc. Food was good as always but not much to pick from on the menu which was a shame, we are however used to doing the old tasting menu here. I look forward to trying the roast on Sunday's. I wasnt blown away so hopefully something can change that!

We visited on a lovely sunny day in June. The Pony hss been subject to a big refurbishment, and there is now a large dining room with spectacular views over the Chew Valley. The staff were attentive and we experienced first rate customer service. We went for lunch, and there were only three other tables in use, the place felt very empty. We were wondering why there were so fww diners, and think that the restaurants policy of charging £20 per person up front may put off some potential customers. The food was first rate. We had pollock as a main course and a choux bun for desert, both were excellent. Our bill for two including a starter but no alcohol was £107, which felt fair. We woukd recommend it to all.

Gorgeous food, but completely empty so a bit of a weird atmosphere...! We loved the Pony Bistro (their other place now closed) - and this was more of the same delicious food. Weirdly the manager sat at the back of the restaurant on her laptop through the whole meal which was a bit bizarre/didn't help atmosphere! Beautifully decorated place, hope it gets busier for them soon. As location/views/food are excellent.

Food was OK but nothing special. Definitely way over priced (food and wine), and extremely small portions (expect to leave hungry!).
