While I rarely leave reviews, our Christmas Day meal was an unfortunate disappointment. The wait for our mains was close to two hours, and when they arrived, the excessive salt made them inedible. Sadly, it wasn't just our table; nearby diners faced similar issues, meaning they already knew the food was not suitable and still decided to serve us the same 10 minutes later. The only silver lining was the attentive and apologetic staff who promptly acknowledged the need for a refund. I've been a patron of this pub for almost two decades and have previously enjoyed fantastic food and service. It's puzzling how things went so awry despite advance notice of numbers and meal choices for Christmas Day. If unable to manage on such occasions, perhaps offering this service isn't viable especially when charging over £100 per head. Hoping for a return to the usual standard on our next visit, where I can swap this review for a more positive one.

All five of us had a fantastic time on Christmas Day. A very relaxed lunch - great service, as usual. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Very much recommend The White Hart to friends and family. We will be back!

Disappointing. Very, very long wait for meal. When the roast dinner finally came there were no green vegetables and a tiny portion of other vegetables. Roast potatoes were rock hard. A tiny jug of gravy was left for two people ... when asked for more gravy it was supplied but was very thin and watery. During the long wait we were frequently approached by staff asking if we wanted more drinks ... it felt like a hard sell of alcoholic drinks to take our minds off the hunger pangs. Fully expected some kind of reduction in the bill for the poor experience but all we had were perfunctory apologies for the unacceptable wait.

A very disheartening and disappointing Christmas day experience. On arrival we were sent into the small area/ room of which there was no lit fire, it was very cold and lacked any Christmas atmosphere. No music. There was a TV which had a picture of a fire burning above the none lit coal burning fire. My fingers were actually numb. We waited 25 minutes before we were offered any drinks and another 45 minutes before the cold starters arrived and this was after we prompted the waitress several times because we had been waiting over 35 minutes for the starters to arrive. The young waitress who served us was passively aggressive, stressed and rude. We noticed that later on she put her coat on and walked out of the restaurant finishing her shift early. This was just after she told us we would have to wait 10 minutes to speak to the manager. When we spoke to the manager he explained to us that two of the chefs hadn?t turned in for the day he was very smiley and offered us compensation for our drinks. He promised us the dinner would be out in 5 minutes we waited a further 25!We arrived at the restaurant at 13:00 and our Christmas dinners came out at 14:45. They were none edible. No pigs in blankets, hard Brussels sprouts, tough meat, cold Yorkshire's. There were several other people in our area who were unhappy with the food and service and there was a table opposite where two ladies waited over an hour and a half for their starters. When they were eventually brought out they were the wrong orders. Some of my party had driven over an hour to get to the destination today. We left halfway through our Christmas dinners and did not have dessert. This is a disorganised un atmospheric, poorly run Christmas day venue, that serves cold tasteless food at £106 per head.

Shocking service.communication - non-existent . Food cold and inedible. Staff were mixing up orders. And we were told 2 chefs had not come, plus we had got forgotten. No heating. No atmosphere. No music. Staff clearly did not want to be there. Extremely overpriced! I would rate this whole Christmas Day experience with a zero.

Good food and drink , we had the roast beef , it was very good but the portion for £20 was very poor value , half a roasted carrot , quarter of a parsnip , 5 roast potato cubes and a tablespoon of cabbage , unfortunately won?t be returning.

Just had a wonderful festive meal for 18 people, friends and children. The food all came out warm and tasty and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive, particularly Michelle. Highly recommended this cosy pub in both warm and cooler times of year.

Went for a meal for 2 on Saturday 11th Nov at 6.45 very awkward atmosphere. The staff were more interested in socialising with each other at the bar being very loud. A member of staff tending to the fire was swearing loudly. There was only one other table occupied by customers and told kitchen was closed at 8pm. The chef was eating pizza at the bar. We had to leave table to go and ask a member of staff for bill. I have been coming to this pub for over 30 years and never had such a bad feeling.

We visited yesterday as a party of six (four adults and two children) and enjoyed a delicious, relaxed lunch in great surroundings. On arrival the greeting was warm and friendly and the service overall was excellent, it was our first visit but we will definitely come againParking: Plenty of free parking, just at the rear of the pubKid-friendliness: My grandchildren, aged eight and five, were made very welcome, and the child?s menu felt extensive. One ordered macaroni cheese and the other. Ham egg and chips

Sunday lunch booked.. didn't have one ...took drinks order and informedno carrots left or Wellington took about 10 minutes for drinks no problem, then another 10 mins to take food order ... ..told no roast potatoes left ...what a sad state...?1 beef and one chicken.. ordered ask for mash.. instead...another 15 later waitress came back to be told no chicken left...bizarre. we just upped and left. been here before won't be returning not an extensive menu a little over priced.. I don't expect to pay for cabbage and parsnips as extra.. even if I did they'd have properly run

Went here today as part of a group booking. Aside from the general confusion over our booking (table not ready, gave us menus for a pre'ordered meal) the meal I had was very sub par and expensive for what I received. Roast Beef was undercooked to the extent that it was hard to cut, chewy and barely digestible. ?. Clearly the wrong cut of beef had been used for offering up a rare Roast Beef! Not that I was even asked how I wanted it cooked! Staff were friendly and helpful, but poor meal..
