Return visit to the Coffee Shop and once again very busy and service let them down. 1st time was a weekday in November. Long queue, tables not cleared and food taking too long. So I thought it was a one off and tried it again on a Friday in January. Sales were on so I expected it to be busy and it was. More tables free this time though. Quite a lot of uncleared tables again. Queued for 10 minutes, then waited 30 minutes and still no toasties appeared. If we had been told when we paid that it was 30 minutes plus for hot food we would have had the pre packed sandwiches. Our parking was running out, so I spoke to a young boy and told him we would now need them packed up as we needed to leave. He was the only one doing the food out the back and wasn't coping very well. People were finishing their drinks and still needing their food. I ran back to the car while my elderly mother who struggles to walk, had to walk back on her own without me to support her. We then sat and ate 2 cold toastie sandwiches in my car. Very disappointed and a waste of money. Not the treat we hoped it would be....I'm sad to lose this as a stop off place as the quality of the food is good, it's just the lack of staff at the right times of the day that M and S need to address.

Hadn't been here for ages as it is not the best of places for refreshments. We called in today to get a refund for some slippers that started to fall apart after less than two weeks. Person serving not very bright ! I put the defective slippers on the counter with my receipt at the side of them. I told him one of the slippers was falling apart after less than two weeks. In typical robotic style he uttered, "Have you got your receipt ?" Help!! As we were in there we decided we would just have a tea and cappuccino before walking back for the park and ride bus to return to our car. Queue was not too long but service was, as usual, so slow. The walking art gallery woman serving ought to have her long dyed blonde hair tied back as she was flicking and shaking it about all the time and where food is involved this is not good hygiene practice. Then, as we were sitting and having our drinks we, and several others, were shocked by a bang as a roof tile dropped down on an unfortunate customer sitting a few seats away. Luckily he didn't appear to be injured. I was shocked as well as I have PTSD. There was an area that was screened off for work in progress but it was inadequately guarded and the seats and table should never have been as close to the screened area as they were - as this poor chap discovered ! All in all, a very eventful visit but for the wrong reasons.

M&S food is fantastic and actually not that expensive for the basics (milk, rice, cereal, etc.)

Cafe in the M&S near the market was very disappointing. The staff were slow and lacking in decent customer service skills. When asked if they had any gluten free options in their sandwich range we were met with a ?no? and the comment we normally do but not today! And no attempt to help get around the issue was offered (there were such sandwiches downstairs in the food hall)

Hi All,Today I would like to report a short story that happened to me yesterday Sunday in Cambridge. Before buying the lunch I decided to stop by the cash point in the Market square next to M&S where there is an excellent wide M&S size sign above it. I inserted the card, and typed the pin suddenly the machine sent a message " the card has been kept". I was extremely confused about why it happened, what to do and how to be able in buying the lunch with no cash and no card.Immediately I looked for a number to block the card then I went inside M&S asking for help. I spoke with a few employees and the manager on duty on Sunday with massive bewilderment I found out that it is an ongoing issue, it has been happening several times and nobody does anything about it apart from spreading the issue to many other people. The manager and the employees told me that the cash point machine is not running from them, they gave the management to a third party, they are aware of the issue and they can't contact the third party company which they in charge of managing the ATM or put any sign on the machine for a secret reason.Personally, this circumstance has put me in huge discomfort and frustration due to the fact I need to wait three/four days before receiving a new card, in the meantime, I am not being able to make any purchases and for having some cash I need to take time off from work to go onsite to the bank counter and get some cash with me.Some thoughts after the experience:- What type of company does M&S co-operative with?- Are they reliable and secure to use?- What is the point in reporting an issue or a malfunction/defect to the company?- Is this the way of caring for the services, people and clients?- Where is the attention to the person/client?- What is the message that we transfer to people and the young generation?I am dumbstruck and feel sad by the answers received and the attention some people gives to the situation.
