Perfectly placed on the riverside at Ely, this is a good example of an old fashioned tea room. They serve a huge range of loose leaf teas including a good decaf range along with coffee, cakes and lunch item all served on pretty china. We opted for quiche and sauté potatoes and the quiche was fantastic. Main issue and why I would only give it all 4 stars was the portion and price. We paid around £15 each for the dish which had a small slice of quiche (2 inches) and around 6 small slices of sauté potatoes. It did have a good side salad but to be honest we both left hungry. We must have had around two baby potatoes on our plates made into the sauté potatoes, it just was no way enough for the price charged. We've been before so were expecting it to be around £20 each with a cuppa but it was purely the size of the meal that made us sure we'd not order that again. I'll stick with the soup and cheese scone for less than a tenner next time or maybe just a cuppa and cake.

The most unengaged staff you can imagine - you immediately get the impression that they are doing you a favour if they let you in!

Popped in late for a quick cuppa. Fabulous place, we'll definitely be back to try the cakes next time.

Best teahouse I've had so far since moving to England. There's is a line wait in the weekends, but there is a good reason as it's so good. Lovely atmosphere, good service, and wonderful food. I recommend the afternoon tea. We will return again soon.

A traditional English tea house by the river. The decoration and food/beverage presentations are very nice. The food is delicious and fresh, and they have a very extensive tea menu. We visited on the weekend, and although it was very crowded, we found a table quickly. The staff are very polite, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Ely to stop by here.

This perfect tea rooms with B&B are unmissable. The ambience and produce as well as the service are second to none. The B&B rooms are the most beautiful in East Anglia with superb rooms, wonderful views, every book you could want to read, tea, biscuits and fresh milk and fruit provided in the large rooms and a memorable bathroom bigger than most bedrooms. Our lunch and tea were sublime and our breakfast delicious. All the teas were amazing- we just did not have time to sample them all?! We will return soon and thanks to all the super-friendly staff as well as Rachel and George.

I visited this tea room as it appears listed as the best in many sites and had some raving reviews. It started well, as it is a very cozy place with a lot of personality and very cute china. I went at lunchtime, ordered tea and a special of the day: soup with a cheese scone. The tea was nice, and it came in pretty crockery. The soup was tasteful, but a bit watery and to be frank, scarce in quantity. I guess it comes with a scone, which means to be the filling part of lunch. The issue was: the cheese scone was probably among the worst scones I ever tried - dry as the desert despite the butter I spread on it, tasteless and just not enjoyable. I love scones and was looking forward to it - I wasn?t able to eat more than two small bites. I never leave food on the plate, but I left the scone, despite my hunger. Still quite hungry after the nicely tasting but too light leek and Stilton soup, I ordered a slice of carrot cake, which looked delicious. Alas, it was the worst carrot cake I ever tried - the cake was undercooked, bland and just not good. I gave up after a forkful, despite my hunger. It came with a whole walnut on top of the frosting - which I ate, and it was stale! I paid 19 pounds for a tea, soup on the watery side and terrible baked goods with stale walnuts on top. The servers seemed totally oblivious and distracted - when I asked for the bill with my practically uneaten scone and carrot cake (except a small bite), and they took the food away, no one asked if there was anything wrong, or how everything was. Maybe this is considered normal with the food they serve? Terribly disappointed, not the best service and some of the worst baked goods I ever tried, for an unreasonably high price for the quality. I don?t know what happened today - but I will definitely not be coming back. Maybe just for a tea but no food. (The tea was good, and they have a wide selection) If anyone wonders if my standards are maybe too high, know this: still quite hungry, I visited another tea room in Ely near the cathedral and went for another tea and a scone. The scone was simply delightful, what a difference!

We visited here after seeing reviews on Trip Adviser and were not disappointed. Cosy feel with lovely china teapots, cups etc. Mixed ages in our group but all enjoyed our lunch which varied from scones to a cooked lunch. The staff were very pleasant and obliging. Very extensive menu of different teas and food. When you come out you are right near the river so great for a walk along to look at the boats there. Watch for the opening times though as we returned on the following Monday only to find it was closed and doesn?t open every day.
