Something is wrong at the chubby. We are regulars at this restaurant and the food is the best in the area as it was tonight. The staff are normally super friendly but tonight it?s as though they were suppressed and very unhappy. Can only assume a change in management. I hope it?s a temporary thing.

4 of us for lunch on a Saturday, a wonderful culinary experience. We chose the a la carte menu and it was divine. Canapés, black pudding brioche, pre-dessert course and petit fours came as part of the meal as well as the stunning main items. Flavour, texture and presentation were all excellent. A very pleasant Sancerre and Primitivo added to the pleasure. This is a place to experience excellent fine dining and I'm sure we'll be returning

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. We went for my partner's 30th birthday and ordered the plant-based set menu. The food was incredible and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome - even printing out a small card that wished him happy birthday as well as a 'happy birthday' dessert plate. We were also given much more than just the three courses expected, with canapés and palate cleansers in between dishes that were all incredible. The whole experience was really special!

Wonderful a la carte dinner with all its additional amuse bouches, & pre deserts. Lobster bisque and Salmon staters to Bass, and Beef finishing with Petit Four, Chestnut, Apricot, peppercorn meringue to Opera Cake. 3 excellent wines enjoyed too. B

If you have an allergy, think twice before you book a table. Food is average, especially the services, there is a lack of warmth and we felt like we were inconvenient for stating that we have food allergies.

Exceptional food - understated but original and delicious: especially the ingenious sauces and well-chosen vegetables. Service was attentive and pleasant while unintrusive.

So we decided to revisit the Chubby as we believe in chances. Previously, we were let down with enduring the full experience of not only the culinary aspect of fine dining but the embodiment of being submerged in the whole Breathe taking experience good some great and of course amazing culinary fine dining experience restaurant/s have and/or are offering.Greeted at the door gave the name of the reservation and was told I was the first one of the party of 4. Was asked if I would like something to drink whilst I waited. In which I replied confidently " I would love an old fashioned". Sorry we don't do cocktails but here are our whiskeys or some champagne or bubbly perhaps. I politely passed. My party arrived and we were a table of four with only two other tables with guest being seated and dining. We opt in for doing a blind tasting buy opt out for the blind wine pairing. However we were looking to have a glass or two of wine to help enhance the food portion of the afternoon. It seemed to us that the wine selection which was nice didn't quite fit what we were looking for and when asked the reply was " well we tried those and they didn't work." Maybe a bit more of ...have you had ... or I would suggest trying.... or with my experience I think this wine would be the closest to what you are looking for.Water it will be please.A bottle of both still and sparkling was ordered.Food starting coming out and it started off great and truthfully stayed that way until the end. What wasn't great was the service of the waiter focusing more a bit on the smaller things. Like what you ask... like don't only fill up the glasses of the guest drinking sparkling water and not the still. The guest grabbed twice for their cups forgetting that they had drunk their water and theirs weren't refilled but, the sparkling was.So at one point 1 of the guest decided to get the writer's attention when he was right beside our table to be replied with "im serving this table i'll be right with you." Even though there is nothing wrong with that the fact that we had to grab his attention to ask to receive more water and before we could even ask, to be replied like that wasn't nice.Moving on. Crumbs were spilt and thr table had to be clean. The whole party of 4 in full blown conversation to be interrupted by a floating arm across the table to be followed by a mini handsome portable hoover which was way TOO LOUD. It made us stop the convo and wait until he had finished to proceed with our stories.Finishing up took way too long to get their attention to fork up the bill so we had to get up to get them and took about the same amount of time to actually settle the bill which once again had to grab the attention.Seemed like way too much work for the guest who have paid to have a nice time and an even better experience. So the summary would go like thisFood 4.5 out of 5Service 2.5 out of 5Experience 3.5 out of 5It felt to vacant.Dietary restrictions: Wife was a pescatarian and they were fine with supplements.Parking: There is plenty of space once you pull In to the back of the restaurant.

We went on a very quiet evening, mid week for a birthday. Food was truly exceptional. Michelin quality. We come to visit this area now and again to see family and so always on the look out for new places to eat. The Chubby Castor will become our new favourite place for special occasions.

This was possibly the most delicious experience I've ever had, took my partners here for his birthday and wow! We were blown away with the autumn ? tasting menu ..... it was divine..... every single one of the seven dishes was absolutely gorgeous and the service was great from start to finish. A wonderful little gem we will definitely be going back again.
