A group of us went for Sunday lunch. The pub was busy with a great feel. We all had a variation on the traditional Sunday dinner; No complaints from any of us. The food, service and drinks were excellent. Fantastic, give it a try.

Chicken wings weren't cooked properly and soft . The crispy batter on a chicken wing just didn't work so that was crispy but the chicken soft inside which was very off putting. The steak then came out raw inside so i had to send back and wait another 15 mins for another. It is so frustrating when a chef can't cook a steak. It's so simple. And they charge £32.

4 of us had Sunday lunch 2had roast Beef and the other 2 Turkey, very good, the only down side is there was no cranberry sauce, when I asked for some there reply was sorry we have none also said no mint sauce either. Surely it no problem to send out a member of staff to the Local shop to get

My husband and I are regulars of many years standing and LOVE The Dog! Why go anywhere else when there's always a glass of chilled Champagne waiting for you? The ambience in both the bar and restaurant areas is lovely and, whilst it can get extremely busy at times, that is just indicative of the popularity of this gorgeous place! The staff are welcoming and friendly, not pushy per se but always there if you need them; a special mention for the Bar Manager Charlie who always has a smile for his customers, a knowledge of his bar inventory and just enough conversation to make you feel "known". Thank you to all! We love The Dog!

I have been going to The Dog regularly since 2018! I LOVE this pub! I?ve been with some many different friends and family, but more often than not, it is me and my Mum who frequent! I tend to always get the Sunday dinner burrito .. My Mun gets the traditional roast beef dinner! Tonight we both got ?soup of the day? which was a lovely creamy potato soup! Was absolutely delicious! Lots of wine to accompany the meal of course! Can?t comment on the rooms, as never stayed! But this by far my favourite country pub and Sunday dinner around! :)

15 September 2023 Took advantage of the beautiful weather to take the elderly Mother for an impromptu lunch The pub has had somewhat of a makeover since our last visit, which included a superb outdoor dining area with its own exterior bar The food menu and drinks choices are extensive and fairly priced - 2 x servings of Fish & Chips. It?s easy to over-egg your last meal, but to be honest this was the best offering I?ve ever tasted from a pub menu, truly sublime - the drinks were great and arrived quickly - it wouldn?t be fair to review without mentioning the young lady who saw to our every need. Friendly and efficient. A gem. It felt criminal not to take her away with me! Worth a visit without a doubt

I?ve been wanting to revisit this place for years and finally got the opportunity recently, I was impressed from start to finish, smart and attentive staff, glorious food and great overall vibe. I used to live and work here as a commis chef way back in the eighties, (when I was a teenager) I think it was called the Gaye Dog in those days, Great to see how this pub has evolved over the years into probably the finest country pub in Cheshire.

Have been to the dog on a number of occasions, only delivering. Been meaning to try this place out. So booked I for a Sunday lunch. Probably the best Sunday lunch lve had in a long time. Only one thing that let it down was the plate requires heating, to keep the food warm. Will be back. Thank you .

First ever visit here for my mums birthday and it did not disappoint. the outside bar was fab but unfortunately the weather was rubbish so we sat in. Nice attentive staff who were friendly and efficient. I ordered the chicken schnitzel more like a parmigiana really and it was epic. The crunch on that thing was fabulous, I've been dreaming about it ever since. Definitely worth a visit and we have just booked to go back already.

We were a family of 10 celebrating my son's birthday. We all ordered the roast dinner which could be pork turkey or beef.Unfortunately when the meals arrived there were errors. Either the wrong meat, carrots missing or even roast potatoes missing. This was quickly rectified and without even asking we were given a free round of drinks and the bill was reduced by 10%.As far as the quality was concerned, the roasts were excellent, good value and the drinks were priced competitively too with excellent choices. It's a lovely pub with spacious seating inside and out.Why have I given it five stars?Because when errors are made but are rectified quickly with an apology and doesn't impact on the occasion then why not? We enjoyed ourselves. We will be back.

Visited the dog today after nearly a year. All I can say is stunning, we ordered the lamb to share and it was as it always is beautifully cooked. For desert we tried the brownie and panna cotta both were really nice, small size on the brownie but it was very rich and anymore would have become sickly. Service was good, very welcoming and homely. I would recommend this to anyone. ???

Went with family for Sunday lunch, there was 12 of us, the service was very poor & a couple of the meals had to be sent back as they came cold, one of our party had to ask 3 times for a plate so he could have his meal, we were asked if we would like any sauces ie?? mint sauce, horseradish etc we said yes but when they eventually came we had almost finished our meals. My husband & I often go to The Dog & have never experienced such poor service before. The place was quite busy but not as busy as I?ve seen it & there seemed to be plenty of staff about so we were quite surprised just how bad our dining experience was, I am just hoping this was bit of a ?blip? because as I said before we do like to go often

We have been to the dog for many years and always been served delicious well presented food! Has the chef or management changed, the service was poor! A a lot of staff chatting together clearly not happy with something! The food was not up to the usual standard and to be honest I won?t be recommending or rushing back! Such a shame as the staff used to be so attentive and quick to serve and the food used to be the best.
