We had a lovely meal with the girls there. The food was good, but it was a bit expensive. The place is in a great location, lovely restaurant, nice service. There's even a separate vegan menu. But at the end we were still finishing our bottle of wine after the meal, and I think we had waitress asking ask 5 times if there?s anything else we would like to have, almost rushing us through the door. I'm sure it was meant to be caring but it didn't come across this way. But I would recommend it.

Lovely hotel with pub/diner - we were on a stop off enroute to Portsmouth from Scotland and it was a very comfortable night - great breakfast and lovely helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Food took a little while to arrive but looked like it had been on a hot plate rather than freshly cooked. Scrambled eggs were poor. Service was ok. Easy to park and a very central location in town.

Having stayed here for two separate nights whilst house hunting in the area, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are absolutely fabulous - and kept spotlessly clean by Josie and Keeley. Spacious, well appointed, brilliant showers and with everything you could need including robes. The design of the rooms is spectacular. And extremely good breakfast, freshly made for you, and open to requests such as omelettes. And great value too. Sandbach is a lovely town, and the Wheatsheaf is the icing on the cake.Rooms: Just spectacular.Food & drinks: Amazing freshly cooked breakfast in lovely surroundings.

Went for Sunday lunch. Nice roast dinner, but no veggie alternative. If you don?t eat meat you can choose pasta or curry. Desert was great, as was the service which was fast and friendly.

A lovely location and ambience with some nice drinks, although the ales can be a bit questionable, probably due to under usage. Staff are friendly and helpful. It can get busy at weekends and during function days. I think the company needs to keep the red wines away from the heat of lighting, but again it creates a nice show.

A wonderful end to the family Christmas visit. We went today for lunch before the family returned home to Stansted, The Wheatsheaf being close to the motorway for their homeward journey. My grandson misheard the drinks waitress as I asked for a cup of tea, English breakfast being offered and accepted. As orders were taken for our food he announced that he'd have the same as Grannie, full English breakfast! He cried as we explained it to him but to our delight, and especially his, the choice was accepted along with his younger brother's request for beans on toast! The chef must have paled visibly on hearing that order. However we adults gave proper selections from the menu, beef cheeks, fish and chips, burger and my order of fillet of salmon with peas and crushed potatoes in a delicious creamy sauce, the name of which escapes, me although my delight at choosing such an excellent meal remains.Unusually for me, I didn't fancy anything on the list of deserts, however hearing my son proffer the choices on the children's menu, I said yes please, I'd like that, another excellent choice, chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and honeycomb ( cinder toffee to me) ice cream. Delicious, as was the capuccino coffee that followed. We all enjoyed a festive meal in delightful surroundings with thoughtful, attentive, professional staff, especially the excellent chef and the brave waitress who submitted our order. Thank you all.02/02/23We visited today for a family birthday, good service and excellent food especially the pork romanesco special of the day. Thank you.29/01/24We visited again today for a family birthday meal.Friendly staff and good food which we all enjoyed. I had the garlic and chilli king prawns followed by boeuf bourguignon pie with chips, carrots and broccoli which was lovely.Thank you.

I've added a 3* middle of the road rating because we never actually went. My wife and I were working on two laptops, her booking the room and me the restaurant. The latter worked perfectly first time but the room booking would not complete despite 3 attempts. We then phoned but nobody picked up. So we cancelled the restaurant and went somewhere else.
