Excellent hotel with plenty of things in the room. The swimming pool in the hotel is very nice and relatively quiet most of the time. The golf course is decently maintained and looks beautiful. The buggies are a bit expensive, but work fine. My only criticism is that I wish the hotel rooms would have toilets that are less skibidi. I mean, even a Kai cenat level 3 gyatt ohio citizen could not deal with these toilets! Other than that, wonderful hotel and golf course.

Played the Premier yesterday after recently enjoying Portal's Championship Course. Both are challenging and long but the Premier course for me took the top spot. Tighter, more hazards, similar deep first cut rough. I usually shoot early to mid 90s, occasionally high 80s, but both courses saw disappointing scores over 100. The Premier particularly requires accuracy, concentration and stamina. I'll be going back again to take on the Premier again for sure. Whichever you book will be a great round, both highly enjoyable.

Poor service. Sub standard courses, dated rooms. All in all steer well clear

Went to the Portal Hotel on a two round, one night golf break. The two golf courses (The Premier & Championship) were excellent and the staff were polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The food, dinner & breakfasts, was average at best. Service was decent apart from at the bar in the evening when it was poor.As regards the building, our room was spacious but ?tired?.We did enjoy our stay, but improvements are needed.

This is just a review of the premier course and facilities. Firstly, staff were very friendly and accommodating, and there was no waiting for tee times or the buggy which was good. The putting Green was excellent and very empty so another plus. The main thing that lets the property down is the clubhouse which is massively dated with toilets which were ok but not very clean and some out of use. Pro shop is small and averagely stocked. Then there?s the premier course itself, which is a mixed bag. When we played a couple of days ago it had rained in the morning so the course had drained well. It?s a pleasant looking course, but not very well kept, we couldn?t figure out on a number of occasions where the rough started and the fairways began, and it looked like they hadn?t been mown recently. Tee boxes, are for a course of this standard poor, not mown, divots not replaced or filled. Sign posting is also rubbish but that?s only for first time players I guess. The final par 3 hole is spectacular. Overall it?s an ok course, not particularly challenging and not worth full green fees if you?re paying them. Shrigley hall is a better option, has better views and is in better condition. I haven?t played the championship course recently so don?t know it how compares. I think you can find better courses in Cheshire for the same money.

Played this week, course was not brilliant but ok considering the rain we had lately.. played with six others late on in the day ..was told on the phone buggys would be £20 got charged £40 the gentleman on the desk in the pro shop .was incompetent and never had a clue..place looks run down and needs investment..when we finishedeverything was locked up including toilets..no wher to get changed or to put keys out of buggys..

Beautiful course set in deep countryside. Long course with some tricky greens but a great challenge even in the rain.

Championship course at 6500 yards off the yellow is Open parkland tree course with a good design. Some undulating Greens. Fairways, bunkers & greens were in good condition for spring. The 1st cut was stickie & thick. For me as a short hitter I found it long but enjoyable. There?s a practise area putting green, chipping green, driving nets. Good pro-shop house. The only bad thing was price at the bar over £8 for paint of Peroni

It is a good course with some challenging holes, but can get wet in the winter in the low spots. The greens tend to be ok in the summer, but could be better in the winter. I would recommend it over the championship course as it's more interesting, but could do with some investment to make it an amazing course.
