Co-op Food is a brand for the food retail business of the consumer co-operative movement in the UK.
Co-op Food has around 4,000 stores around the UK selling a number of everyday products such as milk, bread, confectionery, alcohol and other household goods. The stores are owned by the various societies which make up the co-operative movement.
Stores vary in size, and are usually either convenience stores or larger supermarkets, and the brand has the largest geographical spread of any retailer with a store in every postal region.
Rather than focusing on price to compete with the 'big four', Co-op Food focuses instead on local community projects and the 'co-operative difference' of ethical sourcing.
