We used to have a private assistant or whatever they are called but these posts no longer exist which has meant we can no longer get any advice or help. We do just about all our banking online but recently came in to do a transfer. The whole thing was awful. We had to stand at the counter for about 40 minutes. I asked if we could sit down in one of the rooms as we are in our mid 70s and found the process painful due to illness. This was refused. There were four people working in the bank so this could have been accommodated. As it was we were made to feel like an inconvenience. To be honest the person serving us was incompetent. She was clearly struggling . We were transferring money to a building society which we had done before. I had all the details with me but they were already on our account anyway. The woman said "You cannot make transfers to building societies". Seriously, someone in a bank said that. I was completely taken aback and said " You can, and you will see on the account we already have" How on earth she thought it was done I don't know. The bank manager was in there hovering around and did not know certain facts either, such as the maximum amount we could transfer. She was wrong. Anyhow after insisting that we could transfer the money the woman ssid " I will try it then" This was said as if to suggest we were being unreasonable. The money of course went through. After standing at the counter for about 40 minutes due to the person being painfully slow we left. Since then we have been back online transferring just about every penny we had in this bank elsewhere. I have always been concerned about bank closures but frankly this one either needs to close or be overhauled. It is absolutely dreadful that customers are treated to such an appalling service. This is especially poor as we had a lot of money deposited here. but we have moved it now and won't have to rely on this again

I would just like to thank the bank clerk Kay for her patience, kindness and dedication to sorting out my problem today. A valuable member of staff.

I went in to draw out cash £450. I was given 45 £10 notes - crazy. Who would want to walk around with their pockets bulging with notes? I said I wanted twenties and they had to sort it out. Whilst this was going on I forgot to take my card out of the counter card reader. I left without it. They did not have the brains to ring me, my phone mumber is on my account. By the time I realised, the branch was closed Left me without my card at the weekend and a 60 mile trip to recover it. Tried to send them a secure message off the website but the function did not work. Rang the call centre to complain, wouldnt take my complaint because I couldnt give them the number off my card...duh they have my card so how could I get the number. Boggling Santander incompetence.....

Only used the cashpoint but it did not disappoint. Exactly the right amount of money came out, the keypad offered a privacy flap and there was even an option to see on screen instructions in Spanish. Muchos gracias.
