Stayed in Alpine style lodge No 58. Bad signage. Took ages to find. Pair of underpants left in bedroom cupboard. Kitchen dirty. Place mats had food smeared over them. As did the chopping board. Knives filthy with grease. Crockery and utensils had to be re washed. Oven didn?t have any shelves. Hob had one ring not working. After pointing this out, no replacements. Boiler showing F28 code hence no heating/hot water which wasn?t remedied until midday the next day. Sadly same fault reoccurred after an hour of engineer fixing. Had to wait for him to return and fix again. Sadly the heating still didn?t work as gauge in hallway only seems to work on 35 degrees?! Spent two nights without heating. Not good for our baby Grandaughter.Went for a meal the first eve at the Lookout. Short staffed, mixed up our food/drink orders and one meal never materialised.Manager was supposed to ring today to discuss - no call.Very sad as I have had some great stays previously here but this last one will be my last. The lodge was in need of refurbishment and a deep clean. However the beds and bedding were clean and comfortable.Sadly you can?t get in until 4pm and have to vacate at 10am so I cannot understand how Retallack staff haven?t the time to thoroughly check and clean. It?s a shame as the location is ideal for local beaches, pubs and Padstow close by.

Nice site. Not that much to do yet considering the size but looks like there's some work being done. Could do with more out of season activities or a more interesting pool.Staff have been super friendly and helpful. Kids loved the flow rider but it's quite expensive and not open much so only took an hour up.Super dog friendly bar and restaurant. I enjoyed the seafood pasta and everyone else enjoyed their burger. You have to go off site for decent walks and not much to do in the rain but great for a relaxing trip. Bring some board games!

Really disappointed, we stayed in January, the lodge it?s self was gorgeous, but sadly we had non stop problems with our HOTTUB, it took 10 hours to heat up, and we only managed to use it once out of the 4 nights. We contacted them asking for a partial refund and they said to contact hoseasons so we did, once hoseasons got in contact with retallack they told them we did not have any issues even tho we emailed and called them up when these issues were happening, so I will not be going back, due to them lying we didn?t have any problems, very very disappointed, a lot of money was wasted due to the faulty hottub.I?d recommend not booking a hottub lodge here.

I would absolutely recommend this site it's is so pretty and there is lots to see and do and in a perfect location. We visited in Feb so some landmarks were closed and not due to open until March. I would definitely stay here again.(Satying- 2 families of 4.)

A little hidden gem in the middle of nowhere, just what we were looking for. Accommodation is absolutely stunning, very elegant finish. Having an indoor pool was a blessing while it was snowing outside. Definitely recommend, we will come back for

I don't think it is acceptable when you ask to book for two adults, two children and a dog to be given a price then when you go to book they add an extra £45 for the dog. I've already told you I'm taking a dog at the start. Disingenuous at best.

Had a lovely family trip here, stunning lodge with a hot tub, very clean inside. Restaurant on site is lovely, only thing it closes very early. All staff who we met were very accommodating and very friendly, looking forward to coming back to stay.Rooms: Different variety of booking options.Nearby activities: There is a pool, spa and flow order on side. Tarquin?s gin is a 5 minute taxi ride away and do an amazing gin tour.Food & drinks: Restaurant on site, closes at 10pm

TLDR (based on three visits)- Perfect location, we spent little to no time in the resort outside of sleeping.- Good accommodation, but with zero privacy should you have a hot tub.- Not always clean.- Limited, to no parking outside accommodation.- Spa, pool and lake facilities are poor.- The resort is currently a building site and has been for years.- Not worth the price.- Not recommended for families who plan to simply stay in the resort at all times. Kids will be bored as there is very little to do in the resort itself.Location============Honestly, the location is the main reason we return. It is perfectly located for Padstow, Newquay, St Michaels Mount, Lost Gardens of Helegan and the Edan project to name a few.We tend to book last minute or wait for special offers as the resort itself is not worth the full price and we are rarely in it. The location is it?s redeeming feature.Accommodation============PROS-The accommodation looks and feels very modern and has everything you to self cater. Beds are comfy and their has always been enough room for everyone to relax. Tables and living room are all comfy and often the balcony?s are a good size.CONS- Parking. The majority of lodges either have 1 or no spaces to park. Whilst there is a car park, this isn?t advertised anywhere. At peak times I imagine it would be a nightmare for families.- I have yet to stay in accommodation that was fully clean and/or functional. On all three occasions kitchen items have been dirty (most recently there was pasta sauce all over the dishes and cutlery).- Whilst not a major problem, the bath in the lodge is comically shallow. When full, even the slimmest person would struggle to be comfortable. You cannot keep adding hot water?.as there doesn?t appear to be any. The bath was tepid throughout and the hot water tap was cold for 45 minutes afterwards.- In contrast, the shower was one temperature, dangerously hot. No matter which way I turned the tap, the temperature remained akin to the inside of the sun. Bathing in the earths core would have been cooler.- My biggest issue with the lodges, was the balconies. I understand that the layout of the resort means that a private garden isn?t possible, and balconies are a good solution. Why then, are the side panels clear glass? Every balcony can be seen, even those with hot tubs, so surely it makes sense to put solid glass/panelling to ensure privacy? Our neighbours were so uncomfortable with this that they asked to be moved. This seems like such an obvious solution.Facilities========There aren?t really that many and they all look a little shabby compared to the modern astatic of the accommodation.- In the 6 years I have been coming I cannot see that they have expanded the already quite small spa and pool area. Having been with friends who used the spa, they confirmed that it was small and the treatments seemed expensive and limited. I have no first hand knowledge of this and would suggest researching it first.- The large lake was busy when we came a few summers ago, but I couldn?t really see what activities there were on offer. In the end, the group in front of us simply put their wet suits in and got in. It all seemed a bit chaotic. It is closed in the off season but again, no improvements have been made.- We have never used the restaurant as the resort is perfectly located to ensure we never have to. Padstow is 5 miles away and Newquay is also close. We have never even see it advertised, I couldn?t tell you where it is located.- it?s a maze and the one way system is poor. Everyone ignores it as it?s not always clearly signposted. Heavy machinery on the road also adds a level of excitement I wasn?t expecting.Nearby activities: Perfectly located for a wide range of locations and activities. Padstow, Newquay, St Michaels Mount, Lost Gardens of Helegan and the Edan project to name a few.Noteworthy details: - It's a building site. Has been for years and works are continuing for many more.- Cleanliness is an issue.- Car parking is a nightmare.
