Visited because of my fascination with the story behind the potters and the history of the Leach pottery. The history was ably described by the narrator and potter David Griffin. It is a difficult balancing act between the historic interest and the deceased potters who created the pottery and supporting the pottery and the potters involved in its continued development. There is some fabulous pottery for sale made by the current potters and other exhibitions of the pottery from past years. It is a pity that as the pottery fell into decline at various stages of its evolution, it sold off by necessity its Crown Jewels to ensure its survival but survive it did. Pieces by BL, JL, Shoji and Bill Marshall were among my favourites. I also loved the BL tiles which visitors walk over to enter the pottery itself. They are dotted around the pottery as well.Of particular interest was the struggles the pottery went through, from sourcing clay from St Just to firing the kiln and the influence that DL had on the business and the practical aspects of running a pottery.

Wonderful visiting the pottery again in June, but not too thrilled that I was charged twice for a book that I bought in the shop! I was told (by the author of the book on Janet Leach) that the card machine did not work the first time, so I did it again. My bank statement shows I paid twice! I sent the Leach Pottery a Messenger message last week and put comments on FB, regarding this double charge, yet no replies at all. I'm hoping somebody reds this.

5 stars for Bernard- the vision and anything pottery. Not sure it would be worth the £8 entrance fee if you only had a vague or half interest, especially as I suspect they own the building and sell their own pottery- should maybe rely on income from the shop and just get more footfall/interest through the door by being free? I love pottery so happy to pay the price to stand in the footsteps of a great potter.

Outstanding! A happy outcome of cultural cross-fertilisation and international collaboration that has influenced generations of potters in the UK and elsewhere.

Visiting the Leach has been bucket list for me for yerars and it didn't disappoint. We did one of their tours - the guide was a potter who had worked there so he was knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining how Bernard Leach and his team built the reputation that made The Leach Pottery one of the stand outs of the twentieth century. Thank you.

It's the Leach Pottery. Have to respect the man's vision and desire to create beautiful, practical everyday items at sensible prices; of course the pricing stopped being sensible by the 60's.

An interesting museum and pottery, perfect for anyone interested in ceramics or design history. We enjoyed the kilns and especially the "pottery and people" exhibit. Inspired by the stories of the scrap culvert at the back of the studio, we found the outlet in St Ives harbour and incredibly some original Leach fragments. A highlight of our holiday. Thanks for the inspiration. X

If you are at all interested in pottery this is a must see. The home of the first real studio pottery. Great little museum outlining Bernard Leach's life and work as well as other developments. The workshops are interesting and the shop is great. Check the website for opening days/times.

Only went in the shop area but it's huge! Lots of selection and stunning options to purchase and support artists. Hope to go back for the museum another time. Highly recommend. (It's up a big hill!)

Only the shop opened when I visited in early May but great ambience and fabulous items for a peruse. Prices are good and I bought a mug and a bowl. Classic Leach. I loved it.
