Honest pub grub at a reasonable price and it was hot. What more could you want for a pub lunch. Service was good and it was pretty busy too. Would happily eat here again.

The food is basic but nice, not much home made stuff on the menu though. good atmosphere and service and really good value for money. However, after going a few times over the past 18 months or so, I feel that the menu could do with a bit of a shake up. It's been exactly the same each Time with not a great lot of variety. Especially the sweet menu. It could do with having a couple of lighter options as the choices on there are all quite heavy and stodgy which not what everyone wants after eating a main meal. This time, I tried the toffee crunch pie but regretfully there was nothing crunchy about it at all. If anything it seemed a bit stale in the bits that should have been crunchy. They have done a lot with the outside space this year though which looks great and plenty of seating.

Absolutely love this place , beer garden is great , staff are really friendly and the food is great , we don't live too far and whenever the sun is out we love to sit out with an ice cold beer.

Visited numerous times for meals and quizes but the roast dinner on a Sunday is excellent. You can have small medium and large. The sticky toffee is the best I've ever tasted

Used to go here regularly for the excellent quality of thier ribeye. No longer on the menu but was told by the waiter the sirloin was excellent. It wasnt. Ordered it medium rare. No sear and completely unseasoned. Overcooked on one side and raw on the other. Bleeding on my plate so obviously not rested (not that would have made any difference). Poor quality chewy meat badly cooked. Total waste of money. Can't believe how much this place has deteriorated

Visited for the first time since covid and the food has gone way down hill. Sirloin steak only seared on one side, not rested therefore in a pool of blood and very chewy. The waiter said they had changed meat supplier. Steak pie was very salty with a cold flaky pastry top obviously added after the meat had been heated. The menu has been greatly reduced and not surprisingly the place was half empty. Once regular customers we will not be visiting again.

It's been years since I last visited, a really nice welcome on arrival, shown to table and our drinks order taken and served quickly. A decent menu and our order taken and served in good time. We all enjoyed our food which was of good quality. Price very reasonable. Staff very friendly and efficient and looked after us very well. Very clean and our table cleared quickly when we had all finished. Very clean toilets which had good disabled access. A good night had by all.

Not eaten here for several years, decor been updated but furniture the same, saggy uncomfortable chairs. Ordered scamp and chips, scampi looked a fair size when it came alas it wasn't, hollow inside apart from a tiny piece of scampi. Won't be back when visiting the area again.

Popped in here after many years of passing by. Glad I did. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Staff are so nice and very efficient. I go Weds lunch time with my mum and have been for drinks in the beer garden when its warmer. Lovely food and I can recommend the lasagne and chips. The baked potatoes are a very good size and come with a lovely side salad and dressing. Highly recommend.

Lovely food & service. Long time since visiting here & the decor is very modern & nice. Cheap prices & great food, went for lunch, didn't need to pre book and plenty of tables to choose from.

Shame on the proprietor of this establishment who discriminated against my mother because of her hidden disabilities. Let me explain... My elderly mother is recovering from brain surgery, which has left her with epilepsy and necessitates her to take medication to suppress full-on seizures. When we arrived at the Bay Horse, my mam had to take one of these tablets, so I asked the staff to give us five minutes while she recovered from the effects of taking the medication. When my mam was feeling a little better, I approached the bar to order a drink and explain why she was feeling unwell. The landlady's abrupt response was to ask us to leave. When I asked her why, she said: "I have to protect my customers. I have lost enough money through this pandemic". Shocked by her response, I explained again what was wrong with my mam and that she didn't have Covid. The landlady then said: "OK. I'll let you have one drink but then I'd like you leave". Refusing the drink, I informed her that you can't catch epilepsy. What makes this experience all the more distressing and upsetting is that it was my mam's 73rd birthday.

I went here with friends recently. There were 12 of us so we had to pre order. All meals looked lovely and were good value. The place has a big car park and it is a big pub. A good pub meal

We decided to go somewhere different for our lunch while visiting Barrow as we had heard good reports from other people that had visited there recently. When we arrived a very friendly man showed us to our table, very polite and friendly and new how to put people at ease. I found the food to be very reasonably priced £8.50 for a homemade steak and ale pie with chips and peas.Childrens jumbo sausage chips and peas was only £3.75. Very substantial portions especially for the child's meal. The steak and ale pie was also very tasty. Welldone Bay horse we will be back.

A fantastic meal with a stunning view across the water. A gem that should be better known and enjoyed by many.
