Beautiful place with lovely staff, fabulous food and a great atmosphere, we were there celebrating an anniversary but it would be nice for any occasion of simply for afternoon tea ?

We arrived for a meal to find we were the only people in the restaurant. To say we felt uncomfortable was an understatement. The main meals of steak and ox cheek were acceptable. We were told we had to wait 20 minutes for dessert as they were made fresh. The apple pie arrived without any custard and the pear and almond tart pastry was very overdone. Very expensive, very average food and an empty restaurant. Beautiful setting and decor, but let down by the food and prices.

We were here for dinner last Saturday night. It was a wonderful meal. The slow cooked ox cheek was amazing and my husband really enjoyed the beer battered haddock. The sticky toffee pudding and the torte were both equally delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and the cost was very reasonable. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Went in for drinks place very smoky from fires. Ordered a Guinness was kept waiting over 20 minutes which meant rest of my party had already finishes their drinks by the time mine arrived. No apology poor service and staff not capable of changing a barrel. Spoilt our visit.

The hotel is beautiful, set in a quiet area but easy access to Carlisle and Scotland. The rooms were delightful. The bar was very relaxing with comfortable sofas and a roaring fire. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. A great find.

Had a 2 night stay to spoil my partner which was a real nice treat for both of us. A very good night's sleep no road traffic noise which was a bonus eould definitely recommend in my opinion the only thing that let it down for me was the evening menu.

A lovely impromptu lunch, everything was really good. The only slight criticism would be the limited number of mains on the lunch menu ( only 3 ) I think the lunch menu should be presented separately to the main menu as seeing the main menu is a sort of " this is what you could have had "This will not stop me returning .

Being a local wedding photographer I absolutely loved shooting this wedding here at The fleece at Ruleholme. The wedding venue has an undeniable lakeland charm and the staff are incredibly lovely and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure that the couple have the most unforgettable experience. One of my personal highlights at this venue is the beautiful fields surrounding the venue making it amazing for couples photos especially at sunset! All photos by Hemera Visuals.

Great staff. Breakfast was incredible, latte, fruit, croissant, eggs, bacon, toast, juice. I had the fish and chips for dinner and it was the best fish and chips I have had so far. Rooms were very comfortable, well lit and ventilated. The design of the place is outstanding, with a library, lounge areas and open bar. If The Fleece was closer to a town, it would be packed every night but The Fleece is located about 3 miles from the nearest town. Meaning you can't go wandering very far before you run out of things to do.Rooms: Very, very, very nice
