Absolutely outstanding stay at the Bank Ground . We were here over the new year period . The location is stunning just overlooking the Coniston Lake and The Old Man of Coniston right up front !The property itself was beautifully maintained . Rustic yet modern !Jonathon and his team were very efficient and responsive. One of the families that stayed with us has already decided to make this their summer holiday destination too .Highly recommend and thanks to the Bank Ground Team .

We stayed in Beckfoot Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful building, outstanding views of the lake and mountains and welcoming people. We hired a boat and got out on the water easily after a good safety brief....it was so lovely and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a restorative activity! The internet was strong enough to enable me to stream a movie on the rainy day we had, and we watched it in front of a roaring fire. We did some local hill walking, easily reaching the start points. The 'out'-laws popped by to enjoy a family cream tea feast at Bank Ground Farm's 'Swallows and Amazons' Tea rooms. Such a lovely location to stay for a special week of water, nature and rest.

My 20 year old daughter and I had a wonderful couple of days here. The staff were so welcoming and helpful - we were car-free and were planning to walk into Coniston for supper on our first night but they looked at the weather and laid us out a delicious ploughman?s so we didn?t have to brave the torrential rain. We felt so comfortable, well fed and well looked after, it?s a splendid spot. We walked, we swam, we got out on the lake - and watching the original Swallows and Amazons film in the comfy sitting room with the lake behind us was just the icing on the cake!ThankyouRooms: Comfortable beds and lovely hot showerWalkability: Recommend a taxi from Windermere if you don?t have a car (£32)30 min walk into ConistonNoteworthy details: Check if they?re doing supper/if the cafe is open as the food is great but don?t think it?s open every day.

Fantastic location. Excellent rooms, many with lake views. Fabulous food and friendly staff. If you are looking for a good base to explore the lakes, forget busy Windermere this is somewhere to really consider.

We had a wonderful stay 14 of us aged 8 to 55. The setting is magical with a cosy converted farmhouse, walks and farmland, forest and lakes on our doorstep. We kayaked across to the cafe across the lake. The food at Ground Bank itself was excellent. Don?t skip desert the sticky toffee pudding is delicious and can be easily walked off on a picturesque hill or swam off in the cold but refreshing lake water. Service from the staff and Jonathan was exceptional. The honesty bar was a surprise and a reflection of the spirit of welcome. Thank you!

Jonathon and his staff are incredibly warm hosts who make sure your stay at this bucolic cottage is filled with charm and delight. Bank Ground Farm is a top notch establishment and dreamy getaway for those wandering in the Lake District.

Jonathan accommodated 3 of us for a last minute paddle boarding booking on Coniston. Despite there being no other bookings that day, he showed us the ropes between tending to his farm. The place was welcoming and relaxed, parking was plentiful and there were outdoor hot showers and eco - friendly composting toilets (don't let this put you off- they were very clean !). Having been paddle boarding previously on Windermere, we would definitely chose Coniston again as it is a calmer lake. We would also book again through Bank Ground Farm without hesitation.

My week at Bank Ground Farm in the Lake District was a fabulous experience. While the inn itself is steeped in tradition, the accommodations and service are top rate, the meals are exceptional, and the view of Old Man Coniston rising above the lake couldn't be better. Thank you Jonathan, Sophie and staff for an amazing time and for continuing to offer a hint of the world that inspired Arthur Ransom's Swallows and Amazons children's book series. Did I mention the sticky toffee pudding? It is outstanding! It was served with cream while I was there, and while I prefer a custard topping, the pudding itself was to-die-for. I hope to return!

What a place! With possibly the most stunning view I have ever seen in the Lakes. Thank you to Johnathan and his team for the perfect get away in The Barn with my 12 friends! Perfect space and amenities, great location and fantastic service. Ate in the B&B one evening and the home cooked food was exceptional, tasty, hot and the service to match was personal and friendly, like a home from home. Highly recommend and will be back!

My husband and daughter (2) went with some friends (another couple) for Easter weekend and we had the best time! The Lakes in and of itself are absolutely stunning but Bank Ground Farm has unparalleled views and is a super quaint B&B that is perfectly situated. 5 min from Coniston it is easy to pop into town if you need something. We were able to hire motor boat and a canoe right from the dock of the B&B and were properly taught how to use the devices, which meant we had a lovely 3 hour excursion on the lake. The farm itself has tons of animals and in this case we were able to go see some baby calves that had just been born a few hours prior to arrival. It is located close to several fantastic walks - varied difficulties so it suited us all. Dinner and breakfast was excellent! We had our Easter roast there too and the lamb was fantastic. We got in an Easter egg hunt and everyone was super happy. The beds were very comfortable and all in all we would definitely come back. Finally, Jonathan who runs / owns the farm was incredibly helpful answering loads of questions and emails prior to arrival which was very helpful as we had never been to Cumbria before but as a result was able to get some great food suggestions in! Highly recommend.
