Perfect location to stay, especially if you have dogs. We particularly liked the ambience of the place, a stones throw from lake Coniston, and about a half mile from the village. The Bluebird cafe nearby is within easy walking distance too.

This place is definitely worth a stay, it is the definition of hospitality, even if you are not thinking of coming to the area; just come to stay here.It is spotless; every where! From car park to room it is so well cared for. From the moment you enter the door you feel welcome, it?s like a big invisible hand in a velvet glove wraps around you. Staff are very polite and all know what they are doing, they are there for you, not to text friends or pretend you are not there. Very impressed. The food was so good, I decided to start with Mussels in Cider, oh boy did I mop up that Cider when all the Mussels were gone. Then onto the Cumberland Sausage, best I ever had. All served up with great presentation and attentive service. Not usual to mention the drinks but again great bar staff, spotless bar and gleaming glasses. Enjoyed a Smokey Cokey and have to say, it finished off a perfect day; and that?s what it?s all about.Room, spotless, warm and some very decent biscuits. Bit puzzled by the TV, you could only watch it from the bathroom, I tried to pull it in and out and shake it all about but could not alter the angle. Just had it on for background noise anyway so not an issue for me.Outside, again, spotless, it must be a beautiful place in the summer.I love this place and will return.

Room was clean but basic, missing certain items, for example no towel rail in bathroom so had to drape wet towels over the backs of the chairs. Supposed to have "sleep kits" but missing. Also menu online different to menu in room different to menu in restaurant! Food was pretty good but service slow.Bed was actually two singles put together so there was a huge ridge in the middle - very uncomfortable! Two poor mattresses shoved together doesn't count as a double or king. We both woke up with bad backs.Room had a view supposedly but the angle of the building means you don't really look out over the lake, which is what we were expecting.Staff friendly but not enough of them, at both check in and check out we had to wait a while as the sole staff member was running both the bar and the reception.

The pub is slightly out of the way, you have to walk down a very dark path to get to it.Went to order our meal, however majority of the menu was "sold out"The meals we did receive were poor in comparison to other restaurants in the area. Especially considering this meal cost more than others. No one asked throughout the meal if everything was OK. Poor service. Even poorer quality food.

Just got back home from staying here for a couple nights. Honestly one of the nicest hotel experiences we had, great sized rooms/beds, good food/drinks. Loved the lounge area. Staff where amazingly polite and professional, especially Trevor (we think this is his name) for putting up with us asking for mocktails all night. Would 100% stay again, already trying to find dates that work for us for a late spring visit.

Stunning hotel, friendly staff, however very disappointed with our stay. Our room was beyond basic, was more like an attic bedroom with a ridiculously small window you couldnt even look out of. The double bed was 2 cheap springy mattresses pushed together so there was a seam down the middle. We left the restaurant/bar because it was cold and then our room was also cold. The food and drinks were very expensive. Staying in a hotel is ment to be a luxury experience. This unfortunately was not that.

Walked up from coniston as the coniston inn had good reviews, ordered some drinks cant complain bar staff where friendly and helpful, ordered the burger and the venison moussaka, the burger was ok but for £19 wasnt worth it, the moussaka wasnt hot, and the potatoes where hard i would have asked for something else but wasnt asked how my food was until i had my coat on, once explained the issue i was told all "I can do was offer and apology and let the kitchen know", no worries im out of pocket and eaten a third of my meal, the location is wonderful the food is not !!

Stayed here for a couple of nights with dogs in tow. Lovely location. Lots of space outside for dogs. The staff where great even though sometimes the service was a bit slow. The room we had let this place down a bit. Small and compact to say the least and just a shower. no bath, which would have been nice. It rained on the last night and there is leaky guttering at the back. When the water overflowed it fell onto some sort of plastic drums outside of the kitchen at the rear. Even with the windows closed it was unbearable with the noise at 1am and through until the morning. View from our room was the kitchen and a roof.Food & drinks: Expensive drinks

Prefect Hotel. This is the third time we've stayed here. Just had a fantastic Christmas break. Chose a room that overlooked Coniston Water. Rooms are cosy with powerful showers. You can walk right to edge of Water. Village is short walk away. Beautiful area to visit.Christmas Break was restful and relaxing. Definitely worth the price
