“This is our second time for lunch and both visits have been excellent. The staff were exemplary, especially as we had our 9 month old daughter with us. We were made to feel incredibly welcome.Food & drinks: The 3 course lunch is £50 but well worth it if you compare to the standard of food elsewhere. Go on, treat yourself.”

“This is a review of the restaurant only, but I am sure staying at the Black Swan would be a pleasure. We dropped on spec for Sunday lunch. They fitted us in and we enjoyed one of the best lunches for many a long day. We had the roast beef . Portions were generous vegetables nicely cooked and presented on very hot plates. I wish we lived closer. Prices were reasonable too. If I am being ultra critical, personally I prefer my roast potatoes a bit crispy round the edges. Would I go again- you bet but we move on tomorrow!”

“We arrived soaking wet and were welcomed very warmly by landlord Andy who took our wet clothes for drying and us to our warm and comfortable room, where our bags had already been taken. He continued to be very available and helpful for all the stay and even donated money towards the cancer charity I was raising money for. All the staff were friendly and accommodating and the whole place had a great feeling and ambience. The food was great pub hearty fare and good value. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I would highly recommend!”

“I had my birthday party with friends in the restaurant. The sommelier really looked after us with three 50 year old vintage wines which my partner organised for me. (Champagne, white and red). I know sometimes it is difficult to organise a dinner with our own wine, but since they accepted and welcomed us, I was so relieved. The sommelier was the last piece to make my party perfect. Thank you.”

“I stayed here for 1 night enroute back from Scotland. Arrived just before the restaurant closed and the very attentive staff managed to find me a table for a 2 course meal and a beer. Lovely setting, lovely lounge to sit and read a book and a well appointed room. Excellent veggie breakfast and I was on my way. Great location, great facilities. Highly recommendedFood & drinks: Excellent menu choices.”

“Great hotel, recently refurbished and I wish them well for the future. Staff all very helpful and attentive; couldn't fault them, to be honest. There was more than one occasion during our five-day stay when they went significantly out of their way to help us. Another time, the kitchen were more than happy to provide a main meal that was totally different to anything on their (admittedly slightly limited) evening menu. Only downside was the plumbing. It's pretty noisy at times and the shower in our room kept failing - starting well but then running down to the feeblest of dribbles after about 5 minutes. Still, the bath then filled up very quickly so it wasn't the end of the world. Very comfortable, stylish and rather quirky with the most superb breakfast menu I have ever seen.”

“Beautiful venue, really stunning scenery and perfect for a few days getaway. Lovely food, personally preferred the brasserie menu but others in our group preferred Mark Greenaway. Very comfortable beds, lovely stylish design. Personally I’d prefer fresh milk in the room and a few more tea/coffee options, but that’s just about single use plastic reduction for me.”

“Very bike friendly can take bike to room. This removes a lot of stress and hassle when planning cycling trips as it makes it very convenient. Rooms decent size and comfy, nice early (6.30) breakfast for a tenner which was good for a well fuelled early start.”

“A fabulous place with great facilities and a big car park (free). The pool and spa are very popular - I had a massage treatment there a while ago which was incredibly relaxing with beautiful facilities and professional, friendly staff.I would highly recommend a visit, although the only downside is the cost - food and drink are very expensive (but I expect you're paying for it being a more upmarket.venue !) That said, they do a fabulous afternoon tea ?Nearby activities: Penrith is in a great location for visiting the Lake District and surrounding area. There are places to suit all requirements and Penrith is a lovely, friendly market town.”

“Young chap with blonde hair (don't know his name) behind the bar was very nice. We went 2 nights in succession, once in the restaurant, once in the bar area. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a tv which was thankfully off and background music which was just that, so good for us. It was tastefully decoated and furnished. Overall ambience of upmarket and quality. The weather was abominable and we went at night so can't comment on the outside. We didn't use the toilets. We would certainly return.”

“Second time coming to Centre Parcs with my partner and his family. This time felt better as I knew my way around a little better than last time. The lodge we stayed in was up in Meadow View and it was spectacular. Amazing views from the small balcony to the rear and incredibly clean. The beds were very comfortable and make for a great night sleep; also the living room is incredibly spacious so everybody has enough room to do their own thing. My partner and I hired push bikes whilst we were there and I'd highly recommend them as it makes getting around a lot easier. Plus, they make for some good fun if you just want to go for a ride and simply enjoy the forrest. There's plenty of activities to do around the site that'll please all the family. I'd advise that activities and restaurant meals are booked in advance as they tend to have all of the good spots taken if you plan a last minute thing. Overall, if you're looking for a family friendly, dog friendly holiday still with those small luxurious elements then this is the place to go. We're already looking at booking again for next year!Rooms: We stayed in a Lodge in Meadow View. Each bedroom had their own en suite bathroom and the bedrooms were admirably sized.Walkability: Plenty of off and on road routes to explore. Some are a little steeper than others, especially if you book somewhere on the outskirts of the site.Food & drinks: Definitely value for money. We were a party of five and found that evening meals were suprisingly cheap when split between us all. I'd suggest the Indian restaurant to anyone that comes here as the food is amazing. Lots of taste and variety. The staff are also incredibly friendly.”
