Lodging in Ulverston, Cumbria

“We stayed one night here before walking the Cumbria Way. We were made extremely welcome and they made a fuss of our dog. The rooms are slightly dated but spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent and they made us a packed lunch for later. I would have no hesitation recommending it.”

“Stayed at Salt Petre Cottage with partner and 2 chihuahuas. The cottage was outstanding. Very large 2 bedroom, with hot tub and garden. Was immaculate throughout and had everything you could need, home from home. Site was very clean and quiet and you felt like you were in the middle of the woods. Stunning surroundings with rabbits, deer, numerous types of birds. Had the best week ever. We will definitely be going back. The one small downside was the bed was a little hard for us but everyone has their own preference”

“Even though I phoned at the last minute on valentine's night, they fitted me and my 3 children in, with no worries.\\nWhen we arrived, all staff were friendly and welcoming. All seemed very happy there.\\nOther customers were friendly too, and had a chat with me and my children.\\nThe food was amazing, and very filling. There was a good variety of choice, so something for everyone. And everything went down a treat!\\nThank you for a great experience!”

“Recently returned from a long weekend in the lakes with the family and after a wee bit of research we booked in for breakfast on the Saturday.What a great find this pub was!!!!!!Now, I eat out a lot through work & can honestly say this pub is the best food I’ve ever tasted. So much so, we booked a table for the Monday prior to our departure back south.So why did we have?Eggs Benedict (amazing)Pancakes with crispy bacon & hash browns(amazing)Full English (absolutely amazing)The staff could not do enough for us & we’re very friendly.A fantastic pub, don’t not visit ulveston without stepping foot inside. ????????Food & drinks: Simply the BEST pub & food in Ulveston !!!!!”

“My wife had a massage in the spa part of the hotel which she says was very good, cost £100 for the hour.Whilst my wife had massage I took hour dogs for a walk round the surrounding area, and was not disappointed great surroundings.We stayed on for lunch , just a sandwich and soup but very nice.Staff very friendly and polite.”

“Great sports bar with seriously good food and fantastic service. We got loaded waffle fries & Mac n Cheese, both were great and 100% scratched our food itch & then some. Staff are super friendly too - we will definitely come back if we return to Ulverston!”

“First time visit to the Lakes we stayed here for two nights, we arrived 7pm Friday night the pub was busy the atmosphere was chilled with families enjoying a drink and food the staff was very friendly and helpful too. Breakfast included between 8-10 there is a choice of cereal or cooked breakfast so we had both. Breakfast was delish we tried full english on the first morning then second morning i had omelette my partner had Egg Benedict it was beautiful bit of food cooked by the owner, also hot and cold drinks available. The views from the window are fab seeing two horses the first night and deers the second night. Its located in a nice quiet area where you couldn’t even hear cars passing its fab for a chilled break. We travelled by steam train on the Saturday which is based 5 minutes from the B&B we got the train to lake side then a boat to Bowness and back all timed well so your straight off the train onto the boat and vise versa, a fab day out for £50 for two. We got back to the B&B around 6pm it was busy again but very chilled i asked for soup of the day and could i change the bread as i am gluten free and there was no issues the food was delish, there was a fair few dogs but all well behaved we stayed out drinking until around 1130pm. Locals was lovely and friendly and gave us some tips on places to visit. This wont be our final visit we will definitely come back and stay again and in near by places we loved it. Thanks guys”
