A fairly large branch of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill set in the centre of Bakewell. Targeted at the more mature members of society, the clothes are well-made, hard wearing, but a little on the old fashioned side. However, their formal shirts are of excellent quality, comfortable and smart looking, I regularly buy them for work. The rest of the store is punctuated with the occasional DVD and CDs ranges, as well as items like shortbread, blankets etc. The staff are always helpful and friendly, theres always a sale on, but for me this is a place where I only ever buy one type of item.

Usual goods available from this chain. I always seem to pop into these shops when I see them - usually in quaint market towns! So could not resist buying a shirt here - I like thir quality and their reasonable prices and two for £20 deals. Worth a visit.

The EWM in Bakewell is a large shop mainly selling ladies' and gents' clothing. You might also find some confectionary and gifts there. There is a plenty of choice for all ages even though at first look it might seems like an old lady's shop. They sell very nice knitwear especially. The prices are a bit higher but they often have a sale on so then the price is quite reasonable and in some cases there is often a good item for much lower price than anywhere else. The shop is quite comfortable to move around, plenty of space, clearly laid out, the prices are clearly labeled and the staff - (not many may I add - could do with a couple more people) - are very helpful and polite. It is a good choice when you are looking for standard, traditional wear at reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend especially when the sale is on. My dad is very happy with his padded fleece jacket - had it for two years now, still looking good and keeping him cosy and warm for £20 in sale. And I also like that they sell Pringle brand - there aren't that many shops I know of that still sell this great brand.
