Went for a festive afternoon tea. Restaurant was busy, shown to our table and served our drinks. When the food arrived the young man swung the three tier cake stand towards the table catching the bottom foot on the table, the top two plates fell to the floor with the cakes, cream, jam and scones. One scone hit my coffee cup spilling the drink over the table and me. We then had to wait even longer for the food to be replaced and even longer for the drink to be replaced. All we got was an apology from the youth and a young girl clearing tables tried to take our pot tea away while we were still eating and drinking. The only thing festive about the tea was the sodden red table cloth and turkey sandwiches as everything else ended up on the.

Cafe area filthy! Sat surrounded for 40 plus minutes with dirty over flowing tables! Food very expensive and poor quality, they didn?t even have glasses to pour drinks into! Toilets even dirtier. Avoid at all costs

I went with a friend yesterday & it was really lovely. My friend had the festive afternoon tea & I just had the ordinary one. Decent selection of sandwiches, all freshly made, scone with jam & cream and then a few cakes. Ash was great, kept topping our drinks up & checking to see if everything was ok! We highly recommend & will definitely be going again!

We booked for the festive afternoon tea today and had a wonderful time. The food was lovely. Really nice sandwiches and cakes. Really fresh and the festive scones were amazing. Such good quality for the price. The staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Christian and Ash went above and beyond and are an asset to the company. Thank you to them both for making it such a lovely experience.

Had High Tea with my grandson yesterday and the waiter (from Argentina) was absolutely amazing, his customer service skills were excellent. If any of the managers of Dobbies reads this review, promote this man to your training manager.

Very expensive for a small portion of cake. It's extremely sweet as well. Christmas mint hot chocolate is vert nice. Make sure you ask it to be very hot. Or your get luke warm. Which isn't a Hot chocolate.

We went and had Christmas Dinner today, the meal was lovely and tasty but wasn't very warm. We were looked after by Mark who did a fantastic job of making sure we were OK, fetching our drinks and food with a smile always. He was very polite and caring.

CHRISTMAS FESTIVE TEA.Good afternoon, Despite having concerns regarding recent issues highlighted through recent customer reviews, I'm pleased to say that we did not experience any problems during our visit. I would like to single out Alice who went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The food items and presentation were delivered to perfection with Tea refills a plenty. Perhaps the star items were the individual portion, pigs in blankets, accompanied by a small jug of gravy and a portion of cranberry sauce. On this occasion it is a pleasure to be able to respond in a 100% favourable manner. We are now consulting with our friends to see if it is possible to return again before the offer terminates.

We called for lunch, my friend had fish and chips which was small for the price and a bit dry. I had tomato and basil soup with a rather dry baguette. The soup was excellent but was served in a chipped bowl. We then queued for tea and were given cups, tea pots and milk jugs but no saucers and then in to the next queue to pay. 3 queues in all. I think what really let the place down was the chipped bowl which really belonged in the bin and the tea in cups with no saucers. Add to that the dogs in the cafe, most of them were well behaved but there was one which never stopped yapping

Tasty baguettes with fresh salad and coleslaw. I found teas and coffee quite expensive for pensioners.

We called for a family breakfast, our first visit to the restaurant and will certainly be the last. There were items on view which you could not have because of the poor condition. Why these weren?t removed I find difficult to understand. Service was shocking, very slow. One member of the team proceeded to do anything rather than serve the long queue. When we got to buy drinks , the servers preferred to serve staff from the garden centre rather than customers. Somewhere I will certainly not be going again. Very disappointing

I have little to say about the garden centre. It seems ok, not very well lit, but a good size. Outdoor plants and area looks good. This review is about the restaurant. Which genius came up with two drinks dispensing sections, one food serving section, and a completely separate pay till? We ordered food, onto the trays, and looked up to see that the hot drinks area ha a 10- 12 person queue. So did the second drinks area. Refusing to countenance cold food, we moved across to pay, bypassing the queues where I noted everyone was learning each others life history. So, ate our food without a drink. Then bid my wife goodbye for the foreseeable future and joined the drinks queue. Except that I couldn't, as there was a sign saying queue closed. At 2.30. Despite the fact that it was 2.15. So, on to the next queue. Met a very friendly couple and exchanged holiday conversation whilst waiting to reach the front of the queue. Noted that a chap at the front, whilst paying for his drinks, asked for a slice of cake also. Then he was told to go back to the rear of the queue and get it himself? I dont think it's the staff, it's the system. The food was ok, price was ok, but how many queues does one cafe need? SORT IT OUT!
