This review reflects my experience of the post office, not McColls store, who I've always found to be very professional.I went in with my 15 year old son, who wanted to open a post office savings account.Firstly, he completed the form given by the older female member of staff at the post office. He then returned this form, together with my signature as requested, to the younger lady working there and this is where the problems began. Firstly, she appeared to have no idea what she was doing, constantly asking her senior colleague for advice. She then took £200 from my son and advised him his card and passbook would arrive in the post in 7-10 days. So we left. The lady then chased us down the street, shouting to get our attention, and said she had not completed the form correctly and could we return (very unprofessional conduct, not to mention a violation of our privacy!) So we went back, and she informed my son that she required identification (surely she knew this without having to be told?!) My son provided his passport which had expired by one month, and was told they would accept this but they may also need further documents from him. At this point I asked if they needed any identification from myself and was told no, that I was just an authorising signature.Several weeks later I received a letter informing me that I must provide details of my finances-surely not required simply to provide a parental signature? Nevermind, I provided the details demanded, and was again told my son would shortly receive his passbook. Two weeks later, I received YET ANOTHER letter demanding this time that I provide proof of identification for myself (at this point I had been told twice this was not required) so I took my driving license and evidence of my electric bill and universal credit-only to be told by the young assistant that this was not good enough as it was not in paper form, and that they wanted to charge me £12.75 to photocopy my driving license, despite the letter sent by themselves stating "most post offices provide this service free of charge".At this point, thoroughly fed up of the young assistant's overwhelming incompetence, I asked to close the account and for my son to be given his £200 back, but she was apparently unable to do this either!Outstanding incompetence from this staff member, the most unprofessional service I've ever encountered, a clear breach of GDPR and £200 taken from a child by misrepresenting the service. Shocking, avoid at all costs, don't trust such an incompetent staff member and misleading service with your hard earned money

I use this shop often , came in the other day looking for a particular product , couldn?t find it the manager Phil was very helpful and helped me find what I was looking for , seems a definite turn around in the shop since the new manager started and shelves always seem well stocked , it?s a lot better run than it was before , keep up the good work !

Opening times are way off. Past 2 days I've been up to Clowne well before the 10pm closing time, they have only updated 4 days ago, and the store is shut.

Doesn't even deserve 1 star. The staff are horrible and clearly don't want to work there. Extremely unhelpful. Constantly arguing with each other. Google says mccolls is a leading highstreet convenience store. That needs changing it is nothing but an inconvenience to anybody who goes there. The manager wants getting rid off and now it's only open 8am till 6pm absolute joke. I could run it 10 x better than whoever is now. Worst shop I have ever been to.

My daughter had to visit McColls for the post office on 17.11.20 to get a stamp , when she got to the counter she found a disused face mask on the floor so told the post office person and she was told " well its not mine" by the post office worker, Im glad i wasnt there because unlike my daughter, i would have said something. So my daughter had to go to a Mccolls worker to tell her, and she picked it up, bearing in mind this lady was pregnant. My daughter came home discussed, as was I and I hope this plus size, short black haired, always miserable B**!h feels totally ashamed of herself.

Appalling service. Went to post a letter first class today. To be told the post office service at the main counter was closed. I only needed to send a large letter that simply needed weighing. Clearly the member of staff did not know how to do it and the person in the back who he went to ask couldn't be bothered to come and help. Disgraful. We went some where else that offers the same services at the counter and they did it with no issues. Will not use again!

Hi my name is Fulton mcinnes I would like to thank the temporary manager at the clowne store for his understanding and professionalism . In allowing a guy known to me as alex from north AXCESS again in order to get groceries and electric and gas meter card top ups . This guy unfortunately suffered the effects of not been on the correct medication . Bullying and intimidation by neighbours witnessed first hand by myself and other chapel close residents back in march 2020 subsequently police and 3 month prison term only to come out to these new restrictions . Thanks to Wilkinson store and it only remains now yo have a word with aldi and tesco stores . MCCOLLS HAVE LED BY EXAMPLE WELL DONE AND MY OTMOST RESPECT . SAVING LENTGHY COURT CASES AND POLICE USELESS HELP IN SECURING THIS PLEASING RESULT . IF IT HADNT OFF BEEN RESOLVED AMICABLY . I AND THE FAMILY HAD EVERY INTENT TO ENVOLVE THE DERBYSHIRE TIMES AND DO A IN DEPTH INTERVIEW AND WRITE UP ON THIS WHOLE SITUATION . THANKYOU ONCE AGAIN MR A BANFIELD

I called in to change the details of two of my classic motorbikes after they had become of an age to warrant needing no MOT test and free road tax. The woman in there couldn't have been any more helpful. What could have been a nightmare with all the new documentation turned out to be an easy and pleasant event due to her professionalism. Many thanks Linda.
