A comfortable and warm respite following a bike ride around Carsington Water.Easily missed at the top of the very well kept village. Ale poured from the jug, and enjoyed next to the open fire.

Lovely little pub if you want a quiet drink and real

We stopped here for drinks. It's a wonderful little pub with a real fire. Been in here many times in the past and it's always a great experience. We would have stayed for dinner but they didn't have a vegetarian option.Vegetarian options: No vegetarian options.

I love this pub. I almost don't want to tell the world. Not had the food so can't comment but it looks delicious. The beer is amazing and the company is always genial.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime, sadly food wasn't being served until 6.30pm. But made up for by a wide choice of ales, and a warm, inviting fire in the snug room. Not obviously a pub, from the outside (the sign on the tree has fallen), it's next door to the village community shop. Worth a visit.

A strange mix of old & new. Beer brought up from the cellar by the pint, yet they accepted contactless payments. Great but quiet atmosphere, will definitely return if in the area again. The piano will have to wait until my next visit as well ! ?

We patiently waited around 10 minutes over for the pub to open. Should open at 5pm. The door unlatched at around 5.10pm. The door didn't even fully open. No apologies and no warm welcome. The old lady behind the bar had a face so unwelcoming that we decided not to spend our hard earnt money in there. Disgusting. A shame as the pub itself looks quite quirky

Definitely a different pub. Missed it 1st time as the pub sign has fallen off. Very friendly staff serving cask beers from jugs filled from the cellar. Lovely beer

One of our favourite pubs so to see it looking so forlorn was very disconcerting. Hope we just hit it on an off night and that a rejuvenation is on the cards

Stopped for an afternoon drink- lovely friendly staff willing to chat. Draft drinks are from the keg in the cellar and poured from a jug into your pint glass - proper inn experience!!

What an amazing pub. All the beer is served from pitchers filled from kegs in the cellar. Like a pub from 200 years ago. Such a beautiful friendly village too!

Cider & beer still served out of jugs the old fashioned way & how it all began. Amazing place, we will be back for food ?

This was an amazing experience. We walked in the rain especially to visit this pub. The sign is missing, however, it's in the same courtyard/ drive as the shop. It reminded me of my local pub in the 1970's when I was a teenager. Absolutely brilliant. No pumps, no jukebox, no fruit machine, just good cider, lager etc. The beer is brought up from the cellar in a jug. You MUST visit . ...make sure to order a scotch egg on Saturday!!! They only make 12 , when they've gone, they've gone!!. My only suggestion to the owners, please have some sandwiches, nothing flashy, just simple stuff to have alongside the crisps and beers ? ? We will be back ?.

We headed here from the Carsington Water Caravan and Motorhome site hoping for a spot of lunch. Unfortunately, they only do food in the evening. So we settled for a couple of bags of crisps and some very fine beer. Unassuming, quirky, very welcoming and has a selection of really great, proper craft ales.
