Big store, with all the essentials. Plenty of free parking up to 3 hours. A petrol station, located conveniently in Long Eaton.

2 Self service staff too busy chatting to sort out my machine that kept telling me and anyone in earshot that help is required. They were friendly when the decided to deal with my bagging issue but was contemptaling just leaving my basket with how long it took and the fact both of them were seperatly chatting.

The fruit and veg is not up much, I picked up a cucumber and it was rotten underneath, most of the other looks shabby, most of it almost out of date, went to Aldi got far better selection, all with a good shelf life and looked very fresh.

Always good for a coffee stop. It's a relaxing space, no pretences. Had a lemon muffin with the latte this time - both good.

It was a cold summers night back in 2012 the sun was setting and the air was getting crisp. In my haste I had left the house with only shorts and a t-shirt on as I had been lounging around in the day also did a spot of cleaning and fixed an old broken self in the garage which used to hold paint until it had given in. But it was back up and holding the paint once again! As I walked out of the garage I noticed the bird table didn’t have any food on it, so I thought to myself I’ll go for a walk to Tesco and pick some up on the way I saw Edith an old lady that lived down the street I said hi Edith and waved she said hi and waved back and I carried on with my Journey to Tesco’s for the birdseed. Upon arriving at Tesco’s I entered the escalators going up to the shopping level I had a browse done a few other aisles and then entered the pet aisle. I had a look at a few different types of birdseed for the bird table then decided on this particular brand. Happy with my choice I made my way to self checkout tills I scanned the birdseed then reached into my pocket to get my wallet which was not there! I had left it at home on the kitchen worktop so I had to leave the birdseed at Tesco’s walk home empty-handed needless to say the birds went hungry that night.

Excellent, mostly underground parking, with additional spaces at the front of the store.
Massive Tesco, now with high street names clothes retailers within the store. Poor (given the sheer size of the place) and generally unadventurous selection of world beers, wines and other products. A very disappointing butchery department compared to Tesco Chilwell. My wife won’t use it. Also, the smaller Chilwell Tesco Extra store has a much better and eclectic range of Belgian and foreign beers beers/wines in general - putting this store to shame. The petrol station is not on-site, being located on the opposite side of the very busy road. It makes a comprehensive Tesco shop feel a fragmented experience. No Scan as you Shop option, either, which is a very handy and needed facility and one offered by the nearby Chilwell store.
The store is reached and left via escalators (I believe there is a also a lifts option). Navigating a full trolley onto and off the down escalators can prove problematic at times and doesn’t feel particularly safe or ideal.
I have never found this a greatly welcoming supermarket. Too big and too impersonal with few staff on the shop floor to ask for help when needed. Asda across the road has always possessed friendlier and more helpful staff in my own experience - nicer at the tills and self-scan areas and if you need to stop one and ask something. In a sense, Tesco Extra at Long Eaton is a jack of all trades, master of none sort of a place, with lots of different things sold, but for me, with a limited and uninspiring choice on each particular thing. There is a tired and complacent feel to the place. Not a Tesco I enjoy visiting for those reasons, but you, of course, may feel differently.
