The sound of the rain, the warmth from the indoor fire. The bathtub running warm water in the cold was the perfect way to spend our Christmas ?Thanks for the experience and the well interior designed tipi. The hosts were lovely and Aaron made the most amazing curry. We enjoyed every single bite with the extra chili nomnomnommm. We were so relaxed during the stay and wound recommend harta to anyone! Shame that we couldn't light the outdoor fire but cooking underneath their little kitchen hut was great! We brought a big wok to do some serious cooking and prepared our own camping light for the early dark winter. Not to mentioned miranda had made the digital guide nicely and gave us plenty of info before we arrive. Thanks for the lovely Christmas and blessings to your whole family x

Absolutely stunning place to stay, Miranda and Aaron were very welcoming and provided the best stay. Beautiful, clean and cozy. Was especially nice to listen to the stream and cows. The curry was authentic and very tasty. Highly recommended. Joe and Andrea ???

Wow!!! What an absolutely idylic spot. The absolute in GLAMping. The tipi has every comfort you can think of, while you still have the all the best of what camping can offer, with an outdoor kitchen and a wonderful outdoor shower. I thought it looked great when we booked but the pictures on their site cannot convey the absolute tranquility the site offers. Our hosts, Miranda and Aaron were absolutely wonderful, they have thought of everything yuo will need, and offer a load of really thoughtful extras. We went for a special occassion and we will definitely be back.

What a delight to stay at - we wanted something a little different to celebrate our mini moon and once I saw Harta Retreat, I booked immediately! Miranda was great with communication prior to our stay and the digital guidebook was very useful of local attractions, info about the tipis, etc. They have put a huge amount of effort into the design and furnishing the tipis - they really did have everything we needed for our stay! We even didn't mind that it was bad weather as we stayed in bed all day and enjoyed the tipi! The outdoor shower was my favourite and they even cooked up a home-made curry for us to enjoy! Highly recommended and we hope we will be back in the future. Thank you again.

This is our second visit here. This place is amazing, you can really relax and chill out and once again Aaron and Miranda made us feel so welcome. This time we could use the firepit and outside kitchen, which since out last visit has had a roof put on. There was a music event on while we were there and everyone made us feel welcome. Unfortunately due to having a month's rain in a day it did get rather muddy. The home made curries are amazing and must be tried. As for the Tipi's they so comfortable and homely. Next time must remember to the wellies just incase.

We visited Harta Retreat for a few nights from 29th May-2nd June 2023 and in summary: we will be back! The owners' directions and instructions should be read before you leave as most navigation apps won't take you to the correct entrance, instead look for the sign at the top of the hill before you reach the aptly-named 'rollercoaster road'. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and quickly taken to our accommodation which was fully furnished, sited in a peaceful valley beside a small stream. The owners had thought of everything and it was luxurious compared to a hotel in a similar price range, topped off with several nice touches. Our pitch felt secluded and the only noise was from the birds and the stream. The outdoor shower was wonderful, so was the private bathroom. Outside there was wood for the firepit and a small gas stove for us to cook and the owners were always reminding us to get in touch should we ever need anything, which we did to ensure we had enough gas for our evening's cooking. Getting up the rollercoaster road takes some getting used to but once you reach the main road again you are within a short drive of Exmoor Zoo, several beaches, hiking trails and many more attractions. One morning we enjoyed a gentle stroll around the grounds, taking in the amazing scenery and landscape before heading off to enjoy the day in the sun. The owners were very happy to assist and answer any questions and we were made to feel like honoured guests immediately. The curry we pre-ordered for us to eat on our first night was so good that we ended up ordering it again; compliments to the chef! We did a lot of activities in the area over the course of our stay but there is much more we wanted to do. We are very much looking forward to going back and thanks to the heated floor and woodburner in the tent, we'd have no problems going at a cooler time of the year.

Fantastic 2 night stay in the sitting bull tipi. Very peaceful location with excellent facilities. Our hosts were very welcoming. Overall great stay, would definitely go again l. I would highly recommend to those who love camping but still like at bit of luxuries.

This place is amazing! It is 5 star luxury in an absolutely beautiful setting. We have never felt as relaxed and comfortable as we did here. The Tipi?s have everything you need for a luxurious break, from under floor heating to roll top bath and one of the best beds we have ever slept in. We had a curry meal made by Aaron one evening which was so tasty and also a breakfast basket one morning, again amazing! Fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, croissants, and much more. Thank you so much to Miranda, Aaron and their daughter for a fantastic couple of days. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in June. It was a superb experience. We had booked ?Sitting Bull? (which is one of the two tipis with ?ensuite? facilities, the other being ?Dancing Deer?). I know the website says ?Luxury? but we think what we found was above that! To begin with, the main tipi (the bedroom) is very large, with ample walking and sitting space. Had a big King size bed with lovely soft bed linen. The power point and USB port on each side of the bed are very useful for charging iPhone, iPad etc overnight. There is also a Nespresso machine (with 4 or so pods provided). Obviously tea bags etc also present (the milk was in the little fridge that is present).Via a connection/corridor between both tipis you get to the ?ensuite tipi?. Although it is a little smaller than the main one, it still provides ample space to walk around and never have height issues (and I am 6?1?? :-)), There is a flushing toilet (none of this ?chemical toilet? nonsense here)?plus a lovely free-standing bath with hand held shower, a heated towel rail(!), two robes and a mirror with light (normal and magnified view) above the sink. There was also an outside shower with warm water (yes, there was closed fencing around up to at least 6 feet?). Because the tipis are connected the mains water, there is no risk of running out (although always good not to waste water either? :-))In the evening we sat outside and had the firepit going (Aaron can provide some wood) to keep us comfortable. Had there been no clouds, I?m sure we would have been treated to a spectacular night sky (as you are really in the middle of nowhere, with the only light pollution coming from a few solar-powered lights for the paths in the camp area. By the time we went inside, it had gotten a bit chilly. Although there is underfloor heating, I recommend using the small log burner that is present. For a few pounds, Aaron can provide dried wood and kindling material and you?ll soon have a cosy fire going that heats the tipi in no time? Dare I say ?romantic??? ;-)) FYI: the fire is fully enclosed in the burner unit and has an exhaust to the outside, so no smoke or smell inside. As this was our 25th wedding anniversary trip, I also used their service to place a beautiful bouquet of locally flowers (you can provide input into what type/colour etc you want) and a very, very tasty box of local handmade chocolates (again you can provide preferences) in our tipi before arrival, as a ?surprise? for my wife. As the Mastercard advert used to say: I paid money for this but the look on her face was priceless! As for the general area: you do need a car to go anywhere. We went for a day trip to Ilfracombe: walked around and had lunch. When we came back I had pre-arranged for a curry meal to be delivered to our tipi. Aaron makes these himself and both meals were very tasteful and included a naan and some poppadom?s. Highly recommended! All in all: we have wonderful memories of our trip and we both highly recommend this place!!

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Harta retreat surpassed all my expectations. Do not arrive thinking glamping arrive thinking 5 star escapism!!! There?s a feeling of peace the minute you arrive, you feel like you?re in the middle of nowhere but in fact the beaches are only a short drive away ( that?s if you can bring yourself to leave). Your surroundings are just stunning with open fields, a stream, pond with hammocks and then of course you have your tipi. The tipis are incredible, they have everything you need and more! The attention to detail is outstanding. Outside we particularly loved the outdoor shower, and the fire pit. My husband and are not known for our fire lighting skills but Aaron and his daughter were on hand to help us out. When you retreat inside you have the luxury of a log burner, a king size bed, hot & cold running water & a beautiful roll top bath. Harta retreat is a special place, I have not felt so chilled in years !!! We will definitely return. Thank you Aaron & Miranda

Our stay in the Tipi was just superb The Tipi was luxury personified - the comfiest bed and a roll top bath to boot . We didn?t use the outside kitchen area - but it was there if we?d chosen to . The weather was great so the outdoor shower was great too . The small valley were the Tipis were sites was so quiet and peaceful. We?d certainly stay again if we were in the area - Miranda and Aaron couldn?t do enough for us Tony and Steph (Lincolnshire)

just had the most beautiful weekend stay here at harta retreat. i cant recommend it enough. a short drive to the beaches. but you feel a million miles away from reality. a little slice of heaven. i fell in love with my girlfriend over and over again. cooking on the open fire. dipping in the ocean. shacking up in the teepee. make your booking as soon as possible. you will not regret it. great value for money with all the mod cons. running water flushing toilets outside shower. nice and hot and lets not forget the luxury roll top bath. just wow!! electric sockes. and such services. fire wood on demand. we even ordered a home cooked curry from the guys. ans it was traditional and perfect. 5 star
