Really good experience today - served by a lovely young guy who was so helpful (I wish I had taken his name to credit him). We were looking for a basic hybrid bike for my 13 year old daughter. Normally you have to wait for them to order it, build it and come back a few days later. But as they had time and had one in stock, they built it so we could take it away today. So helpful as we live over half an hour away. All for a really reasonable price. We even managed a bike ride when we got home, perfect. Thanks team!

Wonderful service! My Son and I came into store for a new battery with fitting. The two guys serving us were friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Upon hearing what he wanted, my son was told about Halfords motoring club and it's benefits. (This has already paid for itself and saved him money.)As it turned out, there was another issue alongside the battery and the guys were so incredibly helpful. 3 of them all working in the rain to help fix the problem. In the end they booked him in for a diagnostic check but we can't thank them enough for their help, time and expertise. Special mentions to Connor & Will. I didn't get the name of the other chap. All a credit to the Exeter store.

Terrible service. A boy who didn?t want to be working there wasnt very helpful. I tried to return one item from my click and collect order, he said I should cancel the whole order then just rebuy the items I need, so I said fine. Then he scanned the item I needed and it was more expensive than online. So he said if I wanted the same price I need to reorder online and I?d have to wait 15mins! I couldn?t wait that long so just walked out without my items. Very unhelpful

The service was good only spoilt by the poor manners of the young man that served us in the Exeter store. When you are a customer it is nice to hear "can I help you" rather than "do you want something"! Not one please or thank you!

As a couple in our 70s buying our first electric bikes it could have been a daunting experience but it was fantastic service that we were given.It started with Lydon who showed us the bikes and explained everything to us. He was superb. So knowledgeable, so patient and so considerate.We dealt with various other members of staff at the store and in person and everyone was so kind and so helpful.We were even helped with the bikes being carried down stairs for us and they even offered to put them in the vehicle for us.Absolutely brilliant service.Highly recommend them

I was needing to return an item. I didn't check the guys name but was evidently a supervisor walking the floor. I asked if returns were at the back and he replied yes. I have a lung problem and was struggling that day. He moved off but then came back and asked if getting there would be hard for me, it was going to be. He immediately said he would do it himself at the till by the door (till ops cannot do returns). Just wanted to review and say how much this was appreciated and that the guy was clearly an observant and intuitive person. Thankyou mate.

We visited the Rydon Lane store to order a childs bike but couldn't because the collection booking system was not working. I would however like to say a thank you to Ruper and Lydon for their expertise and patience they are definitely an asset to your store.

Despite pouring rain, a bolt that Thor himself had tightened up Connor at Exeter got the job done. Cheerful, polite and super efficient made me glad i joined the motoring club.

I purchased a Yuasa HSB096 Silver 12V Car Battery in October 2022 from Exeter Halfords / Rydon Lane, then had issues starting and turning the engine from around April 2023 which I presumed was down to parasitic battery drain and hence hired a locally reknowned auto-electrician to do extensive checks om the car's electronics. He confirmed the battery was faulty and suggested I request a refund from Halfords, however in order to do so it involved me charging the car up enough to start it, then showing up at Halfords (with a now sufficiently charged battery to indicate its "Good") .. this continued for 3 months and in the end I was forced to buy a portable battery charger (Topdon 3000) which I managed to use to start my sub 8V battery to get me to Halfords - and finally / affirmatively demonstrate the battery was faulty. The reason for the 1 star is that they charged me £20 to fit a replacement battery with vague references to "insurance", if it were my shop I would have unequivocally provided this service for free, but big shops and all that - disappointed.. upon further research this particular batter was discontinued in approx the early 2000's (replaced by the YBX version in the Yuasa range) which implies the battery had been potentialy stored on the shelf for some years. It was the lack of customer service that got me.. and has put me off from purchasing at Halfords again.. the Exmouth branch I have found to be very good with knowledgable (mature / experienced) staff, sadly the Exeter Rydon Lane branch seems to lack that experience and needs some considerable refinemement on their customer service..

Put the wrong battery in my car twice!! Very young lads most likely on minimum wage doing the work on cars.... not surprisingly mistakes are being made. Never again.

Brilliant service today at this Halfords, Will was seconds away from going on his lunch break but stopped and made every effort to give fantastic service, advising me and my partner on tips for our pending mechanical work/servicing queries we have for our Mercedes Sprinter campervan. He couldn't have been more helpful, we're complete novices on the subject and in need of good advice and his help today really put our minds at ease with our next steps. The guy who served us (didn't catch his name but he did have a fabulous beard and glasses) At the till was also ace, helped us select the right engine oil and gave great advice and super friendly service. Not your average high street chain. Really impressed and will definitely be getting our service done here because of our experience today! Thank you Will and friendly bearded man! You're both great and deserve the recognition.

I had lost my front number plate on my way to London. Carl the member of staff that served me was great, initially we thought that the only documentation they could take was a V5, however after explaining my situation, Carl decided to see if there was anything else they could accept to purchase the number plate. After a bit of searching he found we could use alternative documentation that I had available and I was able to buy the number plate and continue with my journey. That?s customer service. Others would have turned me away claiming they could only do it with something I didn?t have on me. However Carl put in the extra time and work to find a solution which I really really appreciated. Thank you.
