Two women working at the till, both could barely be bothered to acknowledge me when purchasing my items. Server immediately turned to chat with her colleague whilst i was making payment, and didn't even acknowledge me taking my items and leaving - more interested in gossiping!

A good one off experience here with staff who were friendly, items we needed and prices that were okay.

Small store with a limited selection, but non the less a good choice for small purchases. The stock covers most of the basics, from bread to milk, but doesn't really stray into stocking luxury items.

In contrast to the other reviewer, we have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the store in Lyme well cared for and stocked. The Co-Operative has a great philosophy of sharing it's profits amongst staff and members. Their prices are average for a supermarket and they always take part in community events. I for one much prefer their humour and humanity to the faceless trans-national companies with their "same everywhere" products. If you have to use a supermarket (and I still feel the need for many things) then the Co-Operative is a good option.

I have had to shop here for the last 20 years, and it is slightly ironic that we are now grateful to Tesco's for freeing us from the very rude staff at the Co-Op. From the next aisle, I overheard a supervisor rudely chastising my daughter ( a shy and very polite art photography student) for taking photos in the store. When I intervened attempting to resolve the misunderstanding (while actually buying from them) I too was abused, lied to and basically accused of intending to take film of their code for their secret store. Yes, we were accused of conspiring to rob from them!
Furthermore, from a hygenic point of view the store is best avoided. For years the first aisle was very "whiffy", and even now often the air is less than fragrant.
