Was given a meal as a present. Was an excellent experience. Fantastic service, attentive but not in your face. Wonderful food, great ambience. Can't wait to go back again. Highly recommend!

My son and daughter in law, treated us to dinner here as a belated birthday celebration gift. Staff were attentive, not overbearing and welcomed my Assistance Dog happily without fuss. Even bringing her a bowl of water. Food plentiful (large portions). Thank you. We will be back.

There are a small number of restaurants on my ?favourites? list. Some abroad and therefore harder to visit, and some, closer to home and more easily accessible. Therefore, when we had decided on Weymouth for our Christmas break, I was quickly on the phone to my all time No.1 Italian restaurant, Al Molo. Fortunately they had a table for three available for Christmas Eve, so I booked for 19:00. Al Molo is Italian and the rough translation is ?at the pier?. The restaurant is housed in the remains of the old Bandstand Pier and is well designed with several dining rooms, all with lovely views across the bay. Once arrived we were warmly greeted, our coats taken and we were quickly seated at a lovely table by the window. More importantly our table had two of the three chairs alongside lovely warm radiators. The girls stayed nice and toasty throughout the meal. The decorations were beautiful. Lots of white and silver and ?sparkle?. Very festive. A charming lady brought us the menus and wine list and left in peace to chose our drinks. For Jean, who no longer drinks alcohol, it was to be a ?Virgin Bellini?. This was served in a martini glass and was just right in volume as Jean?s capacity for food and drink is definitely on the wane. Pauline and I decided on the, now very trendy, Aperol Spritz. This is a drink I had first tried several years ago in Venice and is now a firm favourite of mine. We were in no hurry, which was just as well, as the restaurant was filling up fast and there were only a couple of empty tables left. But soon the drinks arrived and we sipped and ordered our main courses. No starter? we wanted room for desert. For Pauline it was to be the Prawn Risotto, whilst I chose for Jean the Tagliatelle Ragu. This is a dish I knew she liked from previous visits. For me I had to make a big decision; the Lamb or the Seafood Linguine? Actually it was not really that big a problem as I had been thinking about the seafood for a couple of days. I then ordered a glass of Chianti which turned out to be just right with the pasta. Considering that the restaurant was now just about full, the food came quite quickly. On the now familiar, dished plate placed in front of Jean was a mound of pastas, thickly covered with a rich looking meat sauce. I cut it up for her and had a sneaky taste. The pasta was just right for us? not ?al dente? but nicely cooked and easy to eat. The sauce, as expected was rich and aromatic. In the centre of a flatter plate in front of Pauline was a lovely moist looking dome of risotto. It looked just right moist but not wet. Pauline said it was the best she had ever eaten. For me it was also a dished plate. But a bit larger than Jean?s. In the centre sat a dome of moistly glistening Linguine. Mixed into this were small pieces of fish, clams and medium prawns. On top and around were about 10 good sized mussels. All this was framed by two huge King prawns. The sauce was rich, garlicky and delicious. Once again a fantastic dish, very much to my taste. We took a rest between courses. Time for desert come soon enough. Pauline decided on ice cream. One scoop maple and one scoop Damson. For Jean it was the White Chocolate Cheese Cake and for me, as usual, the Panna Cotta. All were lovely and refreshing. The perfect end to a delightful meal. Total cost: £108. This might sound a lot but we felt that it was well worth it for a special occasion. ?

This was our third visit to Al Molo, food was delicious as usual and staff very efficient and attentive. It was a bit pricey, £4 for roast potatoes- really? Each visit I have eaten seafood linguine which, although delicious, it is no longer served with the two whole prawns on top- cost cutting?£22 seems a bit steep for this dish now. Tiramisu was delicious as was the anchovy crostini. We will return but maybe choose a cheaper main course.

Having been a regular customer for many years, the change of ownership has been disappointing. Exorbitant drinks prices and fast food catering.

We booked online without having been before. Very welcoming staff, great menu, fab wine list. Really attentive service. I had pork belly done beautifully and served with chilli broccoli. My husband had spaghetti with seafood, both delicious. DJ playing great disco music and lots of dancing! Waiters happy to dance too. Really unexpectedly dab evening. We?ll definitely be back for more. (Dancing on Fridays and Saturdays each week apparently)

We arrived at the restaurant to find buckets on the stairs, catching the water from the leaking roof. Not the best of entrances by any mans. However, these things happen. We were greeted by friendly staff, who promptly took us to our table. Lovely fresh linen, nice glassware: we're in for a treat. We ordered some House wines - 1 red and one white. Our two red wine drinkers are no connoisseurs! Im being kind!!! The starters: deep fried calamari- but with two deep fried mushrooms added in! Why? No idea. It seems incongruous. The beetroot and seaweed was bland, and both guests left most of it. The pork belly was so fatty. I know it's a fatty meat, but the fat hadn't been rendered out. The Gurnard was excellent, as was the veal fillet. A Little on the pricey side, given that vegetables and potatoes were all extra - but till OK, When the bill came, with a cursory glance, it seemed OK. It was only on checking the bill the following morning that I realised we'd been charged £56 for the bottle of red house wine! I am of the opinion that anyone asking for 'House Wine' I looking for a bottom end, good value wine. Everyone I have spoken to since agrees that this is the interpretation. Why then did they give us a £56 bottle when there were several options around the £20 mark? Indeed, there was a 10% service charge added so my £56 bottle became £61.60!!! Notwithstanding the fact that they do have a spendy wine list, this is nothing short of sharp practice. I spoke to another Weymouth friend the following evening, and the same had happened to her - only she had been charged £90 for a bottle! She immediately returned and insisted that they made amends. These are new owners. I DO wish them well - but they need to be very very careful indeed about this kind of practice. It's not a one-off. I am still considering whether I should contact Trading Standards about this. It is likely to be our party's first and last visit. What a shame. If they want to go 'high end', then they need to smarten things up - from the waiter's trainers, to the unpolished cutlery [and in fact the wrong cutlery: I was given two ,main course knives, rather than a starter and a main knife].

Arrived without booking, they showed us to a table after a few minutes, and left menus. Short time later a waiter took our wine order, then our food order. The muni choice was excellent. The starter arrived within a reasonable time. This was lovely, and our main courses arrived after a time. They were beautifully presented and with fantastic tastes. We then ordered the sweet which we were forced to split between us as we had no space to eat this, but the choice given made us try the sweet. All the courses were washed down with a very lovely rose wine. The food was excellent and definitely the best we have ever eaten. The staff attention was fantastic, such a wonderful evening, so relaxing and enjoyable.

Had a lovely evening. Our waiter, Dimitri, was knowledgeable and helpful. Good wine selection. Whilst there was a limited vegetarian selection, the chef adapted another recipe for us and the food was delicious. The meat eaters in our party also said their food was excellent.

This was the first time we had been to Al Molo and the experience was good with excellent food, service and friendly staff

On a wet and windy evening in November, there is no better treat than Al Molo. Excellent service from Anna and Claire, The new menu at first put me into a panic, as my usual dishes removed. However, the new calamari and mushroom starter was delicious, anything with mushrooms in my book is better. Then the pork belly with broccoli, oh my, WOW! My husband had the beef fillet, which was excellent too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely Art Deco building in which the restaurant has been very tastefully fitted out and decorated. We were looking for a nice restaurant with a choice of dishes that would work with a range of intolerances to spicy food, garlic, onion etc., at the last minute and the staff couldn?t have been more helpful. The fish that we both had was beautifully cooked and presented, the desserts were excellent and overall the value was very good.
