Paid extra for a deluxe room with a superior king size bed. At check in I was told I couldn't stay in that room for "health and safety reason. Utter rubbish. I was put in a disabled access room, very basic, uncomfortable single beds and no bath as it had a 'wet room'Very rude and unprofessional receptionist. I would avoid this hotel and pay a little extra for somewhere that understands what customer service is.

I've never been treated with such disrespect and ambivalence. To cut a long story short. Travelodge forced me to drink and drive. Refusing to admit me into a very empty hotel. Why ? Because their systems were down. I tried several times to book online, in the usual way but each time. My payment was declined. I thought there must be a problem with my new debit card. I had to make the journey which was a get together for friends. After making the 2 hour journey from Yorkshire to Hartlepool I was late and went straight to the pub. After downing a couple of much needed pints of ale I then went to check in at travelodge for later on accommodation. Parked car up went into reception. Nobody there. Eventually young girl with nonchalant attitude appears. Explains dilemma only to be informed it was travelodge fault not mine. Aw OK says I. Will pay you now. You can't she says, you must be pre booked...Noteworthy details: Nice looking place. Loads of parking. Car park empty on Friday night. But don't try to stay there if their systems are playing up. They will let you sleep outside in car...

I payed extra for the Plus room which are all on the top floor. Went to get a shower and it was running cold. As the hot water only came out with low flow on the sink tap, I believe the have problems with low water pressure on the top floor.I've stayed on the top floor previously some time ago and I remembered water pressure / not hot or warm water from the shower.Hot water is a basic requirement for a hotel brand like this.Don't stay here unless you're happy with a cold shower in the morning.Rooms: No hot water on shower.

Convenient. Don't expect much and you wont be disappointed. Also take your own water as the machine at the front desk is a complete joke.

Get what you pay for I guess, nothing particularly wrong with it and for the price I can't argue, we had everything we needed. There was just a sense of general grime, marks on walls and maybe a bit more attention to carpets etc. A few spots in the room where I didn't really want to put anything of my own down on. Like I say.....for the price it was great but had I paid more for the room I think I'd have had reason to complain.
