Most vile branch manager I have ever encountered thought I was in a third world country.I wanted to deposit substantial funds and open a current account / business account .I have sold three houses and had a large amount of cash to deposit in the branch. Rang made all the relevant enquiries as to what would be required and was advised to go into the branch and ask for assistance opening an account with Halifax.3 times I went in and the second time a more civilised member of staff attempted to assist , it kept reading error.Unable to open an Account! Rang back up they told me to go back to the branch and there she was the ghastly women namely branch manager which is farcical in itself to appoint anyone so incompetent as a Manager, muttering snide comments ? well you managed to open one elsewhere? thankfully I did.Opened numerous accounts for banking purposes and had no difficulty at any other branch. NatWest was the most efficient and helpful, but I felt I was back in turkey or a cesspit were incompetent obnoxious staff can berate and offend potential customers.I am currently taking over a business and wanted to seek to make a banking relationship but in seeing how vile the branch manager is and unprofessional I will not be using Halifax.

When paying in a cheque you should not be questioned however silly questions like "WHY IS THE CHEQUE SIGNED IN DIFFERENT INK FROM THE REST OF THE TEXT" make a mockery of common sense. Perhaps that question should have been asked of the people sending the cheque not the person paying it in to their account. When making a withdrawal I spoke to 1 person twice and another 2 people. I got asked same question 3 times. Over the top process to make a withdrawal of what is my money.

I cannot thank Halifax at Stockton High Street enough for helping me out in securing a bank account. Being from overseas the other banks here made it near on impossible to get an account. Halifax made it easy for me and the staff were nice.

Although the branch was very busy as we visited on a Saturday morning and didn't manage to do what we hoped (due to having to book an appointment), the staff were friendly and coordinated and offered to accommodate my needs at another time convenient to me.
