Beautiful escape from the city. The house ha been converted well, and hasn?t lost all of its charm. The grounds are well kept and can be wandered around and explored. Rooms were clean and tidy, with great views across the grounds. Breakfast was fantastic and something we looked forward to every day. The spa was brilliant and worth booking in advance.Rooms: Large, clean, good options to choose from!Walkability: Can walk around the hotel and grounds but need a taxi to get there - very isolated!Food & drinks: Expensive but fantastic options.

Stayed 2 nights for a conference. Rooms are huge and comfortable. Service is mixed. Charlotte was always helpful and professional. Our group had to pay our room bills out of pocket because the reservations team couldn't work out how to take an institutional credit card payment from over the phone from New Zealand. Coffee was terrible.

I took my partner there for a couple of nights hoping for a fantastic experience, but in some areas it was a little disappointing.Firstly the positives: It is a beautiful old building and our room was better than we expected, and the view from the window was lovely. The room and the communal areas were all very clean. The food was excellent, couldn't fault it and for the most part, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Now the negatives: We took up their offer of 2 nights with inclusive 3 course dinner and breakfast at a cost of just under £400. Their site says "some items (on the menu) incur a surcharge", what it should say is "most items incur a surcharge". Only 3 of the 6 starters were "inclusive" and the same applied to the main course, and that was only for the "main dish" itself. Whether there was a surcharge or not, if you wanted for example the Salmon, that is what you got......if you wanted a small dish of vegetables that was £6 extra, and if you wanted a small dish of potato, that was an extra £6.50. A medium sized bottle of water was £5.50 and even the "nibbles" they offer you whilst waiting for your starter were £5 or £6. If you shared a dish of veg and potato, shared a bottle of water and some nibbles, your "inclusive" meal would cost you an extra £23.... more if you didn't share the extras and even more if you chose a meal with a surcharge (For example Beef @ £10 extra each) ....Plus a 10% service charge. The "offer" is very misleading, because the "inclusive" wasn't very inclusive. That was by far the biggest let down. Other issues included a stone cold room on arrival and only lukewarm water (that was soon resolved though). We decided to have an evening drink in a lovely large room with a beautiful fireplace. It was cold so we asked if the fire could be lit and although the staff tried, they were unable to do so as they'd "run out of kindling". My partner chose a Pina Colada....it tasted great but the four large ice cubes reduced the amount of actual drink in the glass and at £14.50 we expected better. Finally, on the second morning we didn't get down to breakfast until 09.15 (open until 10.00). Most of the fresh fruit had gone and wasn't replenished, and the "hot" food was only just warm. I should add that the hotel was not very busy during our stay.A beautiful place though and a decent stay.

Really beautiful grounds and building. I came here for mothers day tea and cake. Lady that took our drinks order messed it up, that's fine, then when we were ready to leave, we asked her for the bill and she disappeared. We waited 20 mins. We asked who I assumed was the manager, who also didn't come back with the bill. We had a baby with us and we're conscious not to stay until she was ratty and ruin other people's time so had to get up and address reception to pay. Cakes were lovely, coffee was typical horrible hotel coffee and staff were friendly but not on the ball. I'd expect better for what we paid as it was very expensive.

Booked a spa day with my partner and was very disappointed with the spa facilities.Jacuzzi was cold, relaxation room only had 4 beds which were all taken bearing in mind you had to book a slot for the spa so you?d think there would be beds available so with that we left after 15 minutes. On the way out spoke to reception about dissatisfied experience but didn?t seem to care! Not worth the money at all.

We stayed here for a night and a spa trip and were blown away by the service and the food. Everyone was so welcoming and went out of their way to help from the moment we arrived to when we left. The room was clean, had everything we needed and had beautiful high ceilings. The fox bar and lounge and tea room is lovely and very relaxing. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. The grounds were also stunning and great for a little walk outside. The spa is quite small but they limited the number of people for each timeslot so it never felt crowded. The treatments were lovely (we had a pedicure and Swedish massage) they even gave us a free glass of prosecco for checking us into the spa a little late! . Only minor comments were some of the paint and furnishings could do with a touch up and some acoustic panelling in the restaurant would go a long way to help some of the echoing noise. Overall it was fantastic value for money and a wonderful stay - we'd definitely stay again and recommend.

Staff were excellent enough tea and sandwiches perfect with scones with clotted cream. Haven't stayed over night. We will definitely return.

Stayed recently for a couple of nights. Not cheap at all but some fabulous hall/rooms that would suit weddings, functions or meetings. Beautiful gardens & scenery viewed from our windows.Word of warning, drive slowly as loads of potholes but a decent sized car park once avoided.Food was on the whole very good as were the cocktails.Dog friendly with friendly, polite & helpful staff.Recommended.Rooms: Our room was beautiful with high ceiling and french doors to gardens, where there were bistro table & chairs with a view of a water fountain.

Car park and road up to the hotel could do with resurfacing. We had a relaxing massage in the spa, it was excellent!Various treatments are available. Definitely book beforehand to be sure of availability. We stayed one night (a Saturday night).Dinner was nice, a bit expensive, but that was expected. Our room was very nice and had most of what could be expected, complementary tea varients, coffee and chocolate were nice, a little fridge in the room was handy. The only down point for us is that the bed mattress proved too soft, so we didn't sleep so well and awoke needing another massage. As well as having a spa, this looks like it would be a great wedding venue.Nice garden for photos.Children's play area, large chess board, tennis courts. Finally, the staff were great, very friendly and helpful.Rooms: Our room was very nice and had most of what could be expected, complementary tea varients, coffee and chocolate were nice, a little fridge in the room was handy. The only down point for us is that the bed mattress proved too soft, so we didn't sleep so well and awoke needing another massage.Walkability: Set in large grounds, so you can enjoy a nice walk, I advise you to take your Wellington boots if there's been some rain as the trek can be muddy in parts.

Only there for a spa and lunch. Can?t say much about the spa except it?s smaller than others I have been too. Unisex changing areas. The Fox bar and restaurant in the lobbyish was fabulous. The staff (especially Nicole) were great, the food and drink was excellent. Child and dog friendly. The interiors were recently up dated and the whole place had a modern character filled atmosphere.
