“Typical house, with lots of charm, clean. Beautiful garden next to a park. Good location of the house in pretty countryside, an hour from Cambridge, and 30 minutes from the sea by car. One hour from London from Colchester station with many train crossings. Kind attention on arrival with a gourmet basket. Very good responsiveness from the manager in case of questions or problems. Please note that the amount of dishes is a bit tight for six people. We recommend.”

“Wivenhoe Post Office is a hidden gem! With lots of interesting items you cannot find anywhere else in our home town, it contains everything you might want. They occasionally have some specials such as Lucky Charms which are a nightmare to get in this country!”

“Top girls working there they are so friendly, very cramped anyone unwashed will be smelt.Shop keepers usually keep chat to a minimum. I guess that's because of their pigeon English, which suits me.”

“Popped in to get a 1st class stamp then noticed some great looking Samosa. Stamp purchased along with 3 Samosa. They were probably some of the best I have ever tasted. Will definitely drop in again.”

“This is a really good Post Office. The only PO in Brightlingsea so very necessary. It is my go to PO & the one I choose to use. The staff are friendly and very efficient. I trust their knowledge and their advice and know my packages will reach their destinations, which cannot be said for all post offices. I would very much regret if for any reason it was not there.”

“Great little post office and convenience shop, run by very friendly helpful people. My favourites have been the breakfast bars and Eccles cakes. An easy place to stop for a snack or drink on a walk of the local area. Support your local shop!”

“This post office has some of the most convenient opening hours in Colchester, and is open on a Sunday which is a huge bonus. Though there is a car park both at the front and rear, it can get very busy at times.”

“We arrived up the fairly steep hill into Polstead by bike on an extremely hot (yes - very rare!) day only to find the Cock Inn was closed on a Monday! What were we going to do for refreshments now?! Then..... from the corner of our eyes we saw tucked away in the corner - the Polstead Community Shop and Post Office with a sign saying Tea & Coffee!! We headed over with no hesitation, dumped our bikes and staggered in to the well-stocked shop to be greeted by a lovely friendly lady who couldn't quite believe that we had actually made it up the hill without stopping! She made us both a proper mug (no hairy fairy cup & saucers) of tea each that tasted absolutely perfect.......hmmmm! They were drunk with much appreciation and satisfaction whilst sat outside on the bench. She came to join us for a chat, and by the time we had to leave it was like leaving a really good friend behind! If you are ever passing through Polstead you just have to try the cuppa here, you wont be disappointed and you'll be adding some revenue to the local community too! ”

“The staff in the post office are some of the most kind and caring people ive met in a long time. The kind, helpful nature of the staff here have led to me leaving my first ever Google review. They went over and above to help me when I didnt know how to do something. Couldn't recommend this branch higher.”

“Google maps suggested getting a 506 bus to my destination after getting here from London. This would've made me 20 mins early from my set arrival time. The bus arrived 4 mins late and drove past me as I put out my hand. Come to find out it's a school bus and only 1 comes by, no other bus. The guys in the shop were SO helpful and supportive. Two cabs stated 1 hr wait, my battery died, they charged it for me and hot me a cab within minutes after my 1hr turmoil. Even offered me tea while I waited.Thank you SO much for your kindness. I appreciate you!!!”

“First time in a while visiting this Post Office, but will definitely be going back more regularly from now on!The manager that served me was absolutely delightful. He was very friendly and welcoming. We chatted about my employment with the Post Office in the eighties and how times have changed working within the post office. He has been running the post office for eighteen months I believe and is doing a splendid job, treating his customers with respect and supplying a great deal of great customer service, something you don’t get very often these days.Thank you Wivenhoe Cross Post Office! ??”

“I'm not sure where the bad reviews come from on here; I've just used this post office ID verification service here, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The lady who served me was kind, courteous and extremely helpful.”

“Firstly I believe that some people have been applying reviews not relating directly to the post office but the shop and surrounding area the post office resides in. I will keep my review to the post office.Post office location: it's a village post office so don't expect it to have the same amenities as a larger one in a city or a town.Post office facilities: they offer all the standard facilities a normal post office has and all that information is available on the post office website including opening times.Staff: there are two main ladies that work there, occasionally there's a man that works there to. All are nice, polite and friendly. It's can get a little busy sometimes so occasionally you may have to queue outside. Remember it's only a small building so they can't house loads of customers.I have been going to this post office for the past 3 years at least 3 times a month. I've never had any issues.”

“Always greeted with a smile and parcels are dispatched and delivered promptly. For a small village PO it is great ? usually closed between 1 and half past for lunch so go before or after.”

“A huge thanks to Dan M at the Colchester main post office today. There was a huge queue and just him! He multi tasked, he was polite and courteous to customers whilst under enormous pressure. Never be rude to the staff who actually turn up! Thank you Dan, what an asset to the Post Office you are - I hope you got to eat your lunch! Especially as I found out you’re diabetic. Look after your staff better Post Office!”

“I appreciate people's feelings but it's a wonderful company to work for, and one of the oldest in the country. I feel there are a lot of postman who really care it's just that we are very very busy all the time. A lot of them are very nice about it, the lads, we are just understaffed and we have a lot to cope with. If you want to have a better postal service why not try being a postman. I can't be one full time because I don't drive. I can only help out here. We need people. Don't just talk about it apply to help. It is immensely satisfying socially. I was a newspaper delivery man before working here and it's lovely to see give an OAP a newspaper and have a chat with her and make her day. We play an enormously important role in that way, it's just that it's not just your mail it's an ever increasing flow of parcels and mail shots. Talk to postman face to face and know why and complain about the right things, we know the problems and we can't tell you online, gaging orders! I'm don't feel I'm saying too much just talk to us and know your postal system; we need more political input in my opinion and community involvement not just individuals complaining. I don't feel the competency of regular postman is to blame or anyone working here really. There is just so much mail, because of online stores etc that this place probably wasn't designed to cope with for example. I ask for your patience. I came in yesterday for my second week at work doing Christmas Casual for the 5th time I did 5 8 hrs shifts this week and I'm going in again at 10 till 3 today. I would have been in at 7am had it not been for the fact that I needed to solve a pay issue and couldn't afford the bus fare and had to wait until my disabled bus pass is valid at 09:30. I love helping out with it, but my disability means I can't drive the van.”
