For a Wetherspoon pub this was great. A historic building in the middle of the High Street in a very nice little town in East Anglia! Food is a good price, but you get what you pay for, my steak was supposed to have 3 onion rings, but only 1 and 3/4, it wasn't great. My partner food had aluminium foil stuck on the bottom of it, do your staff know how dangerous Ingestion of aluminium foil is !!!!!!!Perhaps Tim Martin would like to reply

Reopened in 2015, this has been a long-standing fixture on Maldon’s main shopping street. Flanked by several grade II listed properties, the building is said to be ‘early 16th century’, with ‘alterations to its front in the 18th and 19th century’. It is recorded as The Rose and Crown in the list of Maldon inns included in some of the earliest local trade directories, published in the 1780s. At that time, its licensee was Thomas King.
