A very nice place. They have the best fish and chips and very nice cocktails as well. This is going to be one of my favorite places to go in Cirencester.

I had read that this is the oldest pub in Cirencester and I make a point of visiting these in each place I visit. This one was fine, not sure at first as the guy behind the bar seemed to be here, there and everywhere but he was listening and he did serve what we wanted!! It is a bit like a Yate's bar, aimed at the more astute clientele who count the pennies but still want a good atmosphere, it suited us down to the ground and we popped in the next day for more of the same. I guess that sums it up, if you go in day after day it will be the same, but it will not let you down, nothing wrong with that in my book!!

Don?t do the bottomless lunch! Food delicious but the bottomless part is far from bottomless. Waited 25 mins for our first drink of Prosecco then only had two refills in an hour and a half. Waited over 20 mins with empty glasses on the table every time. Huge disappointment. Understaffed and badly run. Don?t waste your money

Ate and drank at the Black Horse during a short pre Xmas break, and found us using this great pub as a base. What?s not to like, friendly Staff and great cheap tasty food, log fire, ok it?s a gas fire but who cares?? Would love a pub like this in my village in South Wales, will definitely return soon.

Nice food and drinks, good service and the food came quick although we were the only ones bar one other couple in there on a Wednesday evening 7pm. Sausage and mash was a very large portion, gravy was very thick but had good flavour, mash potato seemed to be microwaved and onion rings were very large but nice with a bit of spice in them

Better than The Rock. £6 to get in, £5 for a gin! The rock can suck myOne criticism is that there is no room to swing a cat.

In much the same way that we visit The Black Horse in Devizes whenever we're there, we often pop into The Black Horse in Cirencester for lunch. The fact that the names are the same is purely coincidental. Yesterday's lunch was outstanding. I had the fish and my wife had scampi. Both meals were fresh and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, as always and the atmosphere is that of a true 'local' -not just a town watering hole. Highly recommend

The pub was really well decorated and the staff were super friendly. The food was impeccable and the portions were huge. The food was reasonably priced as well which is a winner. The toilets could do with a more detailed clean but other than that I would definitely recommend.

Menu was different to online and to the last time we'd been. But what we had was ok. Great selection of ales at least!
