I have visited this pub twice, once 15 years ago: it was a mid weekday afternoon & there were just two of us, when all of a sudden the sound system went on full blast. I asked for some quiet, but the goon on duty said they were rehearsing for a kids party. The 2nd visit some 5 years ago, served poor wine and a slice of toast over buttered with a chunk of gammon as a sandwich. It was discussing local pubs today that brought it back to my memory.

I came here last Saturday and was greeted by an outstanding young lady called Joey, she was so contentive and recommended some great food, the chicken strips and blue cheese was amazing. All night she didn?t fail to accommodate us and give us high quality service. This will now be my regular pub, Hatts off for your magnificent staff.

Service from the tall mixed race guy - sorry didn't catch his name - was just superb - absolutely spot-on. Everyone at the table was so impressed with him - he got the balance of approaching people just right and at the right time. Food was excellent too. Really lovely experience especially when you have people from out of town with you. I was booked at 12.45 - name Marc

If I could leave a score higher than 5 stars I would.Got served by a lovely waitress/bar staff member.I believe her name was ErinDefinitely would recommend.Good Guinness too.

I hired out the Devonshire for my birthday. We hired a space outside which was really nice and covered with heaters provided. All the staff were super friendly and approachable. When my mother arrived she was a little lost and one of the bouncers helped her find our area which was very nice and I greatly appreciate this level of service. I didn?t personally order food however the people who did really enjoyed the burgers they ordered and the food was served relatively quickly for a Saturday evening. The only improvement is the bar service was particularly slow when trying to be served. I noticed that a lot of people were ordering Guinness which requires a longer period to pour. Due to this you end up waiting a while for service will the bartenders fulfil a large round of Guinness orders. I highly recommend The Devonshire for large gatherings. In my case I had between 40-50 people at one time!

I?d booked a table for 8pm on a Saturday. The place was packed with drinkers. Eventually found someone who found our booking and our table which was full. We decided that it was way too noisy and busy for a pleasant meal so left.

We are very lucky to have the Devonshire as our local pub, it?s great for a quick pint or a longer lunch/dinner. Six of us had a long leisurely lunch - food is fairly standard pub grub - fish and chips, pie, sausages and mash - but it is well cooked and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful and service was prompt.

We turned up for our booking at 1pm to discover it was another Devonshire we had booked! The front of house woman dealt with this extremely well and managed to find us a table.We had the set menu which was amazing value and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
