Awful place.. says the opening hours are until 23:00? i ran all the way from Columbia road to make it in time. I needed one item, turned up at the door at 22:55 and they refused to let me in.. so disappointing and unprofessional. Worst Tesco i?ve ever encountered.. they need to sack the security guard who locked the door on me along with the manager for false advertising. Just go to aldi or sainos instead where people actually care about the opening hours. Worst part is I would have been in and out in 2 minutes, well before closing time.. it?s not like they have to do the check out for me.. i do it myself.. huge congrats for the staff for further weakening their google rating. I hope they close this branch, it?s a disgrace.

What an awful experience. There?s clearly no care for customers or the store in this shop. I had dealt with 2 of the staff members here when asking for assistance in finding some items. I went in on Monday evening last week. Neither of the two staff members were happy to serve me, and I got the vibe that they felt more irritated to help than willing. It was also apparent that both of these two staffs (both male) were too busy chatting away on their headsets instead of focused on helping customers.I couldn?t see a manager in sight to be able to discuss this in person, there was only one staff member on the till who?s too busy serving customers on there. I decided not to shop because I felt too annoyed by the lack of service.

Re: Tesco Fraud, and a rude, clueless manager who smelled badly of BO.I had a bad experience with the manager of Tesco Express, 79-85 Hackney Road, Hoxton. This is a guy who does not have a clue how to manage.Very briefly, l bought 3 beers for club card price, which didn't go through as one of the beers wasn't eligible (it was unclear as this bottle was in the 3 for 5.50 shelf). It charged me the full amount by mistake, and the polite lady receptionist asked the manager to help.He was so grumpy. Instead of simply refunding and starting fresh, he did the most odd thing where on two occasions, he asked me to tap my card and charged me a further 80p and 20p. l obliged as I was expecting the refund after, but he said that it was done after the two charges, which l politely but firmly challenged. The lady receptionist told him again what the issue was, after which he refunded 2.35.However, when l asked for the receipt to track what happened and what charges have been taken, he pointed blank refused to. Then he asked me to go away as there was a queue of customers (which l understand, but how can you send someone away after potentially fraudulently overcharging a customer). Now l believe l was overcharged that day. I told the security officer what happened, and I asked him, 'Am I being unreasonable here?', after which he kindly advised me on what to do.The cameras will prove this, but I was polite all the way through. I made a mistake of taking a photo of his badge to make sure that l address my complaint about him, which l deleted straight away. I did not take a photo of him, and nor do l want his face to be on my phone! And please apply some deodorant; that smell is uncomfortableThis was my experience, l hope you'll have better luck and awareness. I will report to trading standards as Tesco is conducting illegal business, at least on this occasion. Just be cautious when you shop. Good luck!

Evri printer is not working as of March 17, 2023

Please remove yourself as Evri print-in-store service, as your printer doesn't work - you inconvenience everybody. "Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, try tomorrow, but I don't know" - said the clerk, when I asked what's the issue with their printer and why I can't leave my parcel. I said "you're listed as in-store printing service". I've heard that they know, but it doesn't work. Horrible service.

I have recently switched from Sainsbury?s to Tesco due to home move and convenience. This little express has been a life saver for me and my children. Has everything we require for a weekly/monthly shop, making it easier to not have to venture out to a bigger store or multiple stores to complete my shop. The staff are generally nice and helpful and have been accommodating at the tills when trying to juggle a pram, a toddler and a basket.Added bonus, they have a Costa Express which is useful when you need a quick pick me up and a parcel point making it easier to run the majority of my errands in one go.Overall, a great little store with some good people working there.

At the time of my shop they were restocking. The carts were in the way.

Very rude employees with no manners. I asked them a question about parcel postage nicely and one of them raised their voices at me as if I am wasting his time and started laughing at me with the other employees, while speaking in their own language

I've recently switched from shopping at my Sainsbury's Local on Kingsland Road (London E2) to Tesco Express (79 Hackney Road, E2).I've heard a Bangladeshi store/security clerk (old guy wears a beanie/woolly hat) speaking in Sylhetti negatively about customers in the past and today he was talking about me.A customer (who I think works there/knows the staff and I believe didn't speak/know English well) had queued up on the wrong side waiting for a staff checkout, and when he tried pushing in, I explained, politely, that the sign says that that he was in the queue for the self service check out. He argued that I was on the wrong side so I pointed to both signs (this way for staff checkout / this way for self service..." but wouldn't accept it. Honestly, i was on my way back from the gym so was in a good mood; just thought he could do with some help. There was no aggression in my tone or body language. I just ignored him and bought my stuff. At this point the security clerk chimes in telling the guy "not to bother with me..." and other stuff in Sylheti. I wanted to respond in Sylheti that I'd grown up in Whitechapel amongst Bangladeshi friends so understood what he was saying but couldn't be bothered... Easier to revert back to my Sainsbury's Local.I have no issue with people wanting to speak their language but when you're at work, you speak English, just as I do with my Indian colleagues in the office. Secondly, you don't sl*g off your customers... Or you at least wait until they're gone. Even if I didn't understand bits of Sylheti, given that he'd started talking to the other "customer" straight after our interaction and both of them were looking at me, it was obvious they were discussing me.If you're going to leave a review, speak to corporate via social media. Having read other reviews I can confirm there's always stuff lying on the floor, the place has a sense of uncleanliness about it and I barely see the staff checkout manned.

I love shopping at tesco but I hate this one simply because of the staffs. There's always something, If they're not trying to Rob me by adding extra items on my list, they're losing me clubcard points and saving. Worst tesco in hackney, and that's saying something.

No self checkout, dismal selection compared to other Tesco Express, there were several full boxes of stock in the aisles with oblivious staff chatting amongst each other next to them. Won't be back until they've had a remodel.
