Extremely Poor service. Long queues with one staff against a backdrop of two branch closure in the area. Shameful profiteering by Barclays.

I visited the Bromley branch today with the intention of paying money in. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by an encounter with an older lady who served me in an extremely rude manner. Her condescending tone and unnecessary explanation of the correct procedures left me feeling disheartened and disappointed. Upon realising that I had queued up in the wrong line, I expected a simple redirection to the appropriate area. However, the older lady took it upon herself to not only point out my mistake but also explain, in a patronizing manner, where the correct machines were located and how to use them. This interaction felt entirely unprofessional and unwarranted, considering it was an honest mistake on my part. As a customer, I believe it is essential to be treated with respect and understanding, especially when making a genuine error. The older lady's tone and demeanor conveyed a lack of empathy and a disregard for customer service. Her approach left me feeling embarrassed and belittled, which is not the kind of experience one expects when dealing with a reputable bank. While I understand that employees may encounter frustrating situations, it is crucial for them to maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times. Mistakes happen, and it is the responsibility of the staff to handle them with grace and understanding. Unfortunately, this particular encounter fell far short of those expectations. I hope that Barclays Bank takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue appropriately. It is essential for the bank to ensure that all their employees are trained to provide exceptional customer service, regardless of the circumstances. No customer should be made to feel inferior or humiliated due to a simple mistake.

The ques here is terrible. The service is the poorest I've ever experienced in England..Closing Orpington branch is the worst thing that ever happened to Barclays. They'll definitely loose customers like me.

The queue for the only 1 counter is horrendously slow. Barclays has certainly gone down hill and I'll be looking to move banks in the new year.

Should never bank with Barclays. Staffs here are very unhelpful and so rude. Since they closed lot of their branches. The service is so terrible

Barclays Bank Orpington. What a terrible shame this branch is gone. Always seemed very busy to me with ques of people outside. The staff were very helpful and my mother enjoyed going there. Was it really vital for this branch to go ? What a very poor image look for the bank putting its shareholders first and the older generation last.

Shortage of staff at the Bromley branch and shorter opening hours. Been having to go into the branch more frequently since they have not been resolving my issues 1st time round. Saw one person sitting on the floor as there were queues to see someone.. 1hr to 2hr waiting times so I had to walk out

Poor costumer service. Everyone is rude all the time. They don?t want to listen to you. Everything that y say they will tell u to call Barclays. I?ve been 2 times in Bromley and 1 time in Lewisham. Worse bank that I have had in my life. No one can help on the branch and on the phone they tell u to go to a branch. I got my account locked and more than a month i don?t have my money back. Never again!

Barclays Bromley is a very busy branch, but it has an excellent front door advice team. Mandy was particularly of help with my elderly mother who needed to download the App. Thank you Mandy!!

cashier refused me service, had a problem with the automated machine....spend 10 minutes trying ...he told to go back to the machine, he wasn't busy, probably time to close this branch, employees prefere to talk to machine

I recently visited this particular branch, Barclay's Bank Bromley High Street. I hardly ever write reviews on here, but I really think I ought to. So, right. Here it goes. I had a terrible experience with the short woman with dark hair (I can't recall her name) at the help desk. She was very rude, arrogant, and very unhelpful, and I got a very sad feeling that she was, in fact racist. An accusation I simply don't throw around without good reason. Her attitude was in no way to treat a customer of Barclay's Bank for more than 30 years. Once again, I can not remember her name. But I will find out and edit this review promptly. People like her need to be exposed for all to see to teach her a valuable life lesson. She won't like it, but that's just tough. Then maybe Barclay's Bank themselves can do something about her by questioning her appalling attitude. As I'm more than 100% sure that this is not the face or attitude of someone, they wish to represent their corporation.

Totally understand why banks are closing branches and replacing staff with machinery. Case in point for this branch. 2 people chatting downstairs can?t help change my maiden name to my married name as it?s not their remit. 3 people upstairs gathered around one laptop trying to figure out something for an elderly gentleman. The level of incompetence is a joke.

Worst bank ever. Only 1 person there who could open an account for me but was told they were unavailable so I need to call customers services to make an appointment. Turns out it was the lady having a cigarette outside leaning up against the wall at the front. Really bad business image. Don't worry Barclays you won't be getting my money as I have found another far more helpful bank now
