Popped in just for a technical advise related to transferring photos from my own old digital camera straight to my mobile. Staff was very helpful and gave me suggestions, though it was clear to them I have no intention to buy anything from their store.

Excellent service, meaning friendly welcome and very knowledgeable, especially where the buyer (me in this case) was not very knowledgeable and certainDespite being a Saturday afternoon the store was not overly busy either, and thus after a good q and a session after 40 mins I left the proud owner of a new lenseI was pleased this the only store currently open was close enough for me to reach itI would THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND Jessops in Kingston!

I have worked retail for 7 years for an electronics company and have never left a review for another outlet before: unfortunately I have (and continue to) received some of the poorest after sales service from the sales colleagues in the Kingston store and also from the customer services team.I?ve used the store previously for a few purchases and this time went in to buy a lens for my camera-I?m no expert or professional so I told the colleague about my project and asked which lens he?d recommend. He advised on a lens but it wasn?t in stock in the store-he showed me on my phone which one it was on the jessops website and assured me that if it wasn?t the right lens id be able to return it for a full refund. The lens was not in fact the right one for me so I brought it back to the store;I was then asked to produce a paper receipt- one that I never even received with my order- and when I said I don?t have one I was flatly told I cannot return it without this document.Even though I knew this wasn?t the right way to handle a customer trying to return an online order I asked if I could show my order confirmation email and order number and was told that this means nothing in store. Even after I suggested that they should be able to link my order number with the company database I was told to go home and bring back the paper. After I explained that I?ve managed a retail store for a while and am fully aware of the rights of a customer under distant selling rules I managed to get the colleague to agree to take the lens and they told me that I?d be contacted by customer services to arrange the refund-this didn?t happen so I had to email them myself and even here I have been met with a person who hasn?t bothered to read my email as she has asked me questions even though I have answered them already in the previous email.It has been a few days since I returned the item and still no refund or resolution offered, I?m disgusted by the way Jessops has handled this and simply want my refund for the product you have had back with you for 4 days now.

I brought a few rolls of film to develop and get scanned and they came back really well! A lot more affordable than other places.I went back a second time for the same service, however this time the photos came back quite blurry and the colour looked odd. When I mentioned this to one of the staff members, she suggested that it was because of my camera.When I took the negs somewhere else to get scanned and developed, it looked a lot better (however they couldn't scan one of the rolls because it was "too dark" so I'm not sure what happened there). It's a shame because Jessops did so well the first time. They did offer to scan them again which was nice of them.So I guess it's a hit or miss with them.

I didn't think I was ready to commit to a big spend on a new camera when I visited the store and indeed I did come away empty handed. However, I spoke with a very knowledgeable member of staff, who was very generous with her knowledge. I now feel better equipped in my search for my next camera and would happily buy new or second hand from the store. Since I left without a purchase but came away better off than when I visited, I felt the least I could do was leave a positive review.
