The hotel is a beautiful with a Victorian theme throughout. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I recommend anyone stay here at least once. There are two lounge rooms with honesty bars and a beautiful library. I look forward to going back there again!

Such an amazing treasure to stay at! From the amazing cats and staff to the lavishly appointed...well everything this was one of our favorite stays on our UK trip. Everything felt luxurious and comfortable in that home-y way you miss on long vacations. The staff were all amazing and friendly and made sure everything we needed was provided/offered. The ONLY downside was the amazing bathroom. While we loved it, the copper tub without a shower curtain just got water everywhere. Maybe we did not figure it out right, but I felt bad for the amount of towels we used to not slip on the tile floor.

It's very hard to combine quirkiness and elegance, but The Rookery manages it. The atmosphere is that of a Georgian private club, complete with period furnishings, art, and tastefully stocked honour bars - all under the watchful eye of house security cat Bagheera. The owners knew exactly what they wanted to achieve, and they've done it. Possibly not for everyone, but It's our home from home in London - we've stayed there several times and won't go elsewhere. Congratulations and thank you to the warm, friendly staff and owners!

What a beautiful hotel. We went with a group to attend a special wedding. The hotel is a lovely place to stay. The decor is lovely. The bedroom was so quirky and really comfortable. Loved it being on two floors (bedroom upstairs and large bathroom downstairs). It is a lovely quiet hotel (stayed Friday and Saturday night). It makes a nice change to be able to stay in the hotel until 12 on the day you leave and the room was ready much earlier than expected. It was only one stop on the tube from Kings Cross which was so convenient and 15 minutes walk from St Paul's Cathedral. There are lots of nice places over the road to have breakfast. Make sure you request tea and coffee as no coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms. This is complimentary and comes with Florentines and ginger biscuits. Ask for an ironing board and iron if you need one. There is a hair dryer in the room in a bag. The staff are friendly and helpful and offered umbrellas when it was raining to borrow. There isn't a restaurant but don't order pizzas in as we were told we weren't supposed to do that. A special hotel for special occasions.

We stayed this weekend for 1 night on Saturday after previously enjoying several stays at your sister hotel Batty Langleys. Inside was lovely & enjoyed the same signature decor with an honesty bar & complimentary cake. This hotel has a friendly resident cat who greeted us sat on top the reception desk. Our room was lovely, but unfortunately there was no roll top bath or a kettle, we rang downstairs & this is given on request & a lady came up with a complimentary tea tray with kettle, the air con was pretty hit and miss & the room was extremely warm. But the worst part was the noise from outside all night right through to the early hours & noise from upstairs could literally hear people walking above. I DID NOT get a wink of sleep, constant stream of people shouting and screaming & music blaring continuously which echoed all night, we even heard a blast of music at 6.55AM !!! We have since found out that this area has a lot of underground clubs so hence the noise !! The real shame was we booked 2 rooms as we were taking my elderly in laws away as a special treat & unfortunately they had a room next to ours along the front & got NO SLEEP either !!! Won?t be booking again

Lovely period hotel but need to improve of hospitality issues On arrival we checked in and were shown to our room and given a tour of the public rooms on the ground floor. We were more than happy with the little suite and happy enough with the shower over the bath (minor issue) There are no coffee machines or tea facilities in the room so I asked for a kettle and what arrangements would be made for coffee. The lovely person on the desk arranged for us to have a tea tray and informed us that coffee would be supplied to us on request at any time of day and I confirmed that it would be complimentary. We had a lovely stay with absolutely no issues. On checking out they issued us with a bill for the coffee which I queried and was told it shouldn't have been complimentary which made me feel awkward. A hotel of this quality and price should have tea and coffee facilities without anyone asking for them. I would recommend this hotel but anyone thinking of booking should clear up this issue prior to booking but make sure your ring and ask the question. I sent a message via facebook messenger on the 27the May and they replied on 13th June. If you advertise having facebook facility you must be prepared to use it and send replies in a timely manner

Quirky old-fashioned place which is of course fine if you want that sort of thing, as I guess we all do occasionally. But for £370 I thought it was only averagely well executed. Ambiance is rather nice and service eccentric but OK. However, no on-site restaurant and just barely - maybe not even that - enough public room space. No shower in our room - Jack Sheppard room - leaving a pretty uncomfortable handheld shower head in the bath experience. (Really! At that price?) Windows don?t open so you?re stuck with AC - which as other guests have mentioned is quite noisy. Very comfortable though not very big bed. And no tea/coffee in the room is an irritant. Rather odd breakfast with a mountain of cold meat and cheese - would do for lunch I suppose. Not terrible, and clearly some people like it, but personally I wouldn?t use it again I?m afraid.

Amazing service, great food, beautiful building, romantic room, luxurious bathtub. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. We had our flight cancelled and they were able to accomodate us for an extra night and let us check out at 2am and helped us arrange a taxi in advance. We will absolutely stay here again on any return trips to London. It is an old historical building with ornate beautiful details, which we love. I hope others love it too!

What an absolute gem of a place. I have stayed in other period buildings that have been so poorly looked after, this is nothing short of perfect. The features are lovingly cared for and renovation work has clearly been done to an extremely high standard. It feels homely unlike so many other places. With the lovely addition of Baloo the cat, who maybe made me feel extra at home when I was missing my own black moggy. The only thing I can put forward as a gripe is the fact the floorboards are so noisy, either that or the room above mine had some really heavy footed guests in! I loved the fact that they supply sustainable / locally sourced products where it is possible, this added so much to the experience for me. Sipping the Portobello Road gin and tonic whilst reading the great hotel history booklet was a very enjoyable experience. The food too is really lovely. There are adequate breakfast options to make up for the lack of full English breakfasts, with great touches like the bagels from Londons oldest bagel shop! I had the continental option and I was not disappointed at all, I have never enjoyed a continental breakfast as much as this, the produce is clearly picked carefully and is full of flavour. I had an absolutely lovely stay and I will definitely be coming back and recommending to all of my friends!!

Our stay at The Rookery hotel was lovely. Very friendly welcome and the whole feel of the building is homely. Stunning interior with so much character so much nicer than modern hotels. A few hundred yards from Farringdon tube and very close to St Paul?s and lots of interesting historic sites .

We booked the Rooks Nest suite and were not disappointed. Quirky furniture, very quiet felt and real getaway in the heart of the City. We had the in room breakfast which was great as we were entertaining our son, so a home from home feel, your own sanctuary in the City. The staff were lovely, the room clean and well appointed. The shower took a bit of coaxing, but was great when we got the hang of it. The victorian bath we loved. Luka restaurant nearby was also exceptional. Will definitely come back.

Service from reception was really excellent! They went out of their way to accommodate my requests and they were very friendly. The room is nice and big, however the bed was very hard and a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom was lovely with heated towel rails and floors. The hotel is a bit of a drive to the popular places in town, but I did book it for that reason as I don?t like noise when I?m trying to sleep. Breakfast was really amazing, delivered to your room at the exact time you request it to be sent. I did however feel like breakfast should be included in the room rate, which was quite steep, however I gather that it is comparable to other hotels in London. On the nights that someone occupied the room above, it was very noisy. You can hear their voices, footsteps and when they open taps, and they only went to bed at 1am every morning, so I did not sleep until they did. I know this is beyond the control of the hotel, but this is the reason why I would most probably not return. If it weren?t for that, I definitely would have.

The room and hotel itself were really pretty, beautifully furnished etc. Staff all very friendly. Unfortunately we then went on to have one of the worst nights sleep I think we've ever had. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and wiry, felt like I was in a Victorian hospital. The worst part was our air con though. Around midnight we noticed that every time we heard people come back, a few minutes later our air con would start gurgling and would not stop for around 20 minutes. It was weird, loud and annoying, so we turned it off. Unfortunately it soon became apparent that it didn?t matter whether it was off or not, it would gurgle. It was on and off all night until it eventually stopped around 4am. It then started again at around 6am. I can only think it was something to do with other people flushing toilets or showering? It was like some strange form of torture, waiting in the darkness for this thing to stop gurgling so we could sleep, and neither of us could wait to go home. If we had a car with us, we would have upped and left in the middle of the night. When I told the person at the checkout desk the next morning his response was oh sorry? would you like a cup of tea? Lol, no. Before our stay, I reached out via email with a query about bags, and was ignored for weeks until I messaged their social media account to ask the same question. I had also told the hotel in my original booking, and when I re-confirmed the booking, that it was my husband?s 30th birthday. I have never stayed in a 4* hotel where I?ve told them it was a birthday (once, let alone twice) and not even had someone at check in at least say ?happy birthday!?. Felt these aspects of the service were pretty poor for a 4*. At almost £300 for the one night I was, and still am, so, so gutted with this hotel.

This is a 2 star hotel trying to market itself as ?historic? building. There is good amount of historic dust here. The rooms are dark and dirty The area is seedy The owner of this hotel perhaps needs to stay at a real historic building to recognize what it means to run a hotel of this age (Palacio Duhau in Recoleta! Or El Convento in Antigua- just to name a few)

We stayed at The Rookery last weekend for 2 nights and can highly recommend this hotel! The staff were very attentive and helpful from the minute we walked in. Whilst the hotel is in the center of Farringdon it?s surprising how quiet it is inside and we weren?t bothered by any of the noise from the nearby pub. Farringdon tube is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel which makes any journey around London really accessible. The hotel itself is stunning, very old fashioned and cosy. It feels like you?re staying in someone?s home as you have 3 different areas downstairs to chill out in, have a drink etc. They have a house cat called Bageera who is very friendly and is treated like one of the staff! The whole feel of the hotel is one of elegance and luxury. Big fluffy towels and robes in the room and the house staff dressed in typical black and white uniforms adds to the old fashioned feel - in a good way. Our room was air conditioned and the bed was one of the comfiest we?ve ever slept in! Room service is very fast and the hotel is manned 24/7. The front door is on a buzzer system so it?s very secure. The Wi-Fi isn?t great and it would be nice to have tea / coffee facilities in the room so we could make our drinks whenever we wanted but that was the only thing we would change about our stay which was minor. We would definitely return to The Rookery and enjoyed our stay so much that we wanted to stay longer. Thank you for a lovely experience to all the staff at the hotel!
