Very Poor on-boarding process. tried to upgrade my membership to a premium facility as the Strand gym is far too busy and cant book the classes due to being over booked. The upgrading process is as painful as leg day!

I have joined this gym not even a month ago counting on high level of customer service but I must say I have received none of it.The reception team is barly saying hello when you enter, they re miserable and unhelpful.I come to the gym often BEFORE my work as I often work in the afternoons, which means I am restricted time wise. On several occasions I wanted to get myself coffee from a coffee machine which is on the floor ( well advertised to me during my initial sign in visit!) And on several occasions it wasn't working. It can be frustrating when you have only some time left before you leave and count on nice coffee before work and you have to struggle with coffee machine instead of relaxing.Yesterday I have reported it to the staff. ( yet again) they have sent a manager. He came in and looked at me saying " oh it's you again, let's see what you ve done" suggesting it was me that did something wrong with the machine ....I've looked at him and politely told him:" it's not me, it's the machine that's broken yet again. Last time he couldn't make it work neither ) He tried to press the buttons and make it work but yet again the card reader wasn't working.I wouldn't even mind if it was broken but it would be nice to have a note on it so you know you can't use it and in my case I wouldn't have set up myself in the sofa with allmy staff but quickly left to Costa ( to get some coffee before work). I did tell him that but he just said that lots of people use it and thats why it doesn't work!...then he purred me coffee without using the card charger ( which was obviously broken) and said: " well you got a free coffee out of it so its fine with a very nonshalant attitude...I was stunned!In the gym of this caiber you should make sure everything works perfectly and if you offer coffee service the machine should be checked on regular basis. If you fail to check it properly and the client is telling you it happened yet again (!!!) you definetly don't treat her like a nuisance. I don't care for a free coffee but an appropriate service to pretty pricy membership price I pay...With this kind of attitude from the manager I am not surprised the reception staff is so badly trainned.I don't think i will be continuing my memership. I have received better customer service in gyms of much lower caliber.

Firstly it should be noted here that the staff are a credit to the organisation and could not be more helpful. However, unfortunately this is not backed up by investment in this facility. The mens showers contain mould and have done for a good few months. The cross trainers and bikes are now very very dated and could do with an upgrade, this morning the two bigger ones were out of use. Only one of the many cleaning stations on the gym floor had paper towels to clean equipment. It?s a great location with great staff. But it needs some TLC from the company to bring it into 2024.

Having been a member of gyms for 30 years I have a very keen eye for what makes a Gym Good or Bad. Virgin Active @Strand has recently listened to my feedback and surprisingly, actions were taken almost immediately. The Gym has undergone some recent upgrades and some heavy maintenance. However @VirginActive HQ - You have been aware of the Steam Room issues for over 10, years and its time you spent some money and put new system in. The money you've spent on maintenance would've paid for this already ;-) maybe twice over ....However, no matter how nice a gym is, if it's staffed badly it will soon lose its appeal and the novelty will wear off. @Strand has a great team right now that is making the place tick correctly and pleasantly.Aaron, Marteja, Magda, Jama, Cara, Andrew, Aisha, Allon, John, Carl and not forgetting the man that keeps everything running in this place Maintenance man Mitch. They call him Mitch cause he's Mitchelin Star. The whole team is great, so if I have missed anyone, forgive me. I've only had one coffee so far :-o@Virgin HQ - This team is great and the synergy's good and works very well - its down to you to keep them...Now put your hands in your pockets and get that steam room sorted. I am speaking on behalf of most people that use it, I assure you. Do a member survey, I'm know it will support this!! I am compelled to share my recent disappointing experience with Virgin Active Strand. Despite my initial enthusiasm to engage in yoga classes, the gym's failure to provide an acceptable level of service has left me disheartened.Yesterday, upon arriving for my yoga class, I was shocked to find the room temperature at a chilly 14 degrees Celsius, well below the recommended range of 21-24 degrees. This oversight not only demonstrated a lack of consideration for members' well-being but also posed potential risks to our health.What added to my frustration was the team's conscious decision to proceed with the class without informing members about the inadequate room conditions. As a gym manager, one would expect a commitment to maintaining suitable environments for various disciplines. Unfortunately, this was not the case.The unprofessional and disrespectful behavior, especially from Guile Fernandez, who neglected to notify members in advance, further marred my experience. As someone who invests time and effort in attending classes, being unable to participate due to unsuitable and potentially harmful conditions was truly disheartening.This unfortunate incident not only left me extremely upset but also resulted in my inability to use the gym facilities on consecutive days. Considering these circumstances, I feel compelled to make potential members aware of the gym's policies before they decide to join.I have communicated my concerns directly to Virgin Active Strand, expressing my disappointment and seeking feedback on the actions they plan to take to address this issue. I hope this review serves as a cautionary note for others considering membership at Virgin Active Strand.

Staff here are very helpfulThe pool and spa area are all in 1 area, which I like. Pool is for swimming only, so it doesn't shut for Aqua classes during the off peak time.Everywhere is clean and tidy or being cleaned.Great space for R&R.Well be visiting again.

Hidden gem on the Strand! Clean and new facilities - wonderfully polite and courteous reception colleagues/duty managers, which makes such a difference! A world apart from Nuffield Health in Covent Garden.

If you like gym classes? you will need to go somewhere else as Virgin Active has removed all of them from their studio in favour of Pilates?

This is the best gym around these parts, where the young and beautiful people of the West End go to work out. Shout out to Rhona for her inspiring PT sessions which have given me bulging muscles. Note to management - please DO NOT revamp the gym like your Wimbledon / Wandsworth gyms with no cable machines and all those squat racks ? they take up too much space.

Overall a very nice gym with friendly staff - but the men?s showers are full of mould and have been for a considerable time. Customers health is not being taken seriously for as long as this remains ?. Happy to update my review once resolved.

I didn't like at all the way one of the employees talked to me when I took a picture of the pool. There was no one at the pool, but I understand that rule. I just didn't like the way he spoke to me, it was very rude. It was my first day at the gym. I could understand if it wasn't the first time I'd done that, but in my case it was. I deleted and realize it's not the best thing to take pictures of the pool (even if there was no one in the picture) and I won't do it again, but come on, there's a way to talk to people. He was very close to me when he was talking, he was freaking out when he was talking, I really felt uncomfortable. Please, reconsider the way you talk to people.

There's more airflow on the central line in June than there is in this gym. It is always so hot & stuffy.I've raised this with management loads of times and nothing is ever done about it.I'm quite concerned when winter rolls around that the lack of airflow is going to lead to more colds & flu bugs being shared in the air.If my office wasn't in the same building I would find another gym because the lack of airflow and general cleanliness of the gym is really not good (and with the price we pay it should be much better).I would not recommend this gym, there must be other options nearby that are better

I?ve been a membership of Virgin Active for a while but the receptionist at here was worst in the other virgin?s gym. Her attitude was arrogant and not friendly at all. If you have choice to select the location, I would highly recommend to go different location one!
