This was definitely more style over substance. Took our kids after the museum, paid an extra £10 for a glass of fizz which was nice. The kids' lemonade was undrinkable, they left it. Adults' teas were lovely. The kids savoury food was awful (mini hot dog and jam sandwich) the adults' (salmon and cream chees blini and roast beef sandwich were nice, minced chicken in a bun was meh, the quiche was yuck..) The scones were nice, the sweet treats were well presented but were nothing special. The cake tasted like a longlife, packaged airline cake. The semifreddo sphere was tasty. My kids (5 and 8) enjoyed messing around with the science-y accoutrements more than the food or drink. It's a shame as the theatre of the food, lovely surroundings and great service was let down by the quality of food itself.

Quiet, mellow and classy but not too high-brow. The staff was really friendly and the afternoon tea was out of this world.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. All the food on the dietary menus were just as good as the non dietary menu. Everything was explicitly explained and the food was delicious. Great selection of different Science experiments. Will highly recommend to others.Kid-friendliness: They had dinosaur or rocket stands for the children's afternoon tea.

We had such a wonderful time here! You cab soend the day walking through the museums in South Kensington and then stop here for afternoon tea. The whole experience was so much fun and elegant. There are standard, vegan, and even children's options to enjoy. Their selection of teas are delicious and you can get refills on the snacks if you want, though it is a large portion per person. The customer service was top tier and everyone was patient and friendly.

Kid-friendliness: Really fun for the kids

The concept is cool, but it's really just a few simple tweaks to the normal tea that feels a bit gimmicky looking back. If you really love getting afternoon tea, then you'll like it. Nothing but heavy carbs unfortunately -- starts to feel gross after a while. The kid's food was equally poor -- jelly sandwich as a savory item? Yes the food had some "planet" looking shapes, and the kids made a gross blue lemonade from ingredients in test tubes. But the "science" part felt little more than a marketing gimmick. The tea options were unique. They also offered some add-ons for a glass of champagne or alcohol-free options. The 70 euros per person on average was not worth it.

atmosphere and the experience was amazing, you get what expect from afternoon tea. The food was lousy, the highlight was the dry ice. Great experience for kids.

We have a lot of fun here. A great afternoon tea that we discovered in London.

Nice idea to have a themed afternoon tea. The quality of the food is not great though. Scones are good, but not the rest unfortunately. Too pricey for what it is.

If you're going to have a full high tea - sandwiches, desserts, tea - and you're gluten free? DEFINITELY do it here. The offerings were themed when I went in the summer of 2023, based on the museums near by, and we had "Science experiment" themed treats. The science themed things were a little silly, but I think a younger kid would definitely love. They can make EVERYTHING gluten free, and you really, really can't tell. Gorgeous hotel, conveniently located if you're staying around the central London museums, and wonderful service. OH and did I mention - everything has free refills? This is an ALL YOU CAN EAT afternoon tea? WORTH the money, come HUNGRY. The scones are divine! Definitely recommend!

went here as a celiac and loved it !! the most amazing afternoon tea i?ve ever had AND gluten free!! i also don?t eat meat but do eat fish and they catered to that as well. even as an adult this was so much fun and i would highly recommend. also was SUPER full at the end, they offered unlimited sandwiches but even without that it was a lot of foodDietary restrictions: very flexible offering vegan and gluten free options

This was the first time we went experienced afternoon tea. The service we received was absolutely excellent. We have certain dietary requirements whereby we require food without onion and garlic and the staff and the chefs were happy to cater for our needs. The food which was served was presented exquisitely. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely.Definitely a great experience for our first experience of afternoon tea and would definitely recommend.Dietary restrictions: They were able to cater for our particular dietary requirement for food containing onion and garlic.

The Ampersand Hotel was hands down my favorite stay of the year and I travel quite a bit. Let's start with the location. It is quite literally the perfect location. The bus stops right in front of it, the tube (the train/metro) is one block away (with two lines), the hop on hop off bus is three blocks away, Nando's (IYKYK) is three blocks away, a grocery store is across the street, restaurants all around, I could go on and on.The staff certainly goes above and beyond!! Every single staff member we interacted with was exceptional. I am allergic to feathers/down and housekeeping made sure to accommodate my needs. The room itself is gorgeous and spacious and they provide adapters for your convenience (in case you happened to forget yours which does happen!)I loved the heated floors in the bathroom along with the complimentary fully stocked fridge. The slippers and bathrobe were a nice touch as well. I mean truly, I have absolutely no complaints and I will be returning when I'm in London again next year!
