Absolute cowboys!Driving down the motorway, car made a bang noise, dash advised stop immediately. Luckily I was right before an refuge area - Rivington Services. Pulled in and called mechanic. Mechanic came and said needed recovery to BMW..... who subsequently had to replace the engine. When I spoke to Spar staff to advise I was broken down, his response was to open his palm and said £8. I told him I was stranded broken down and not parked..... his response was he didn't care if I paid the £8 or got a parking fine instead - it is my option.Absolute cowboys, you cannot charge someone for being broken down in a motorway refuge - that is what they are for!

Clearly a lot, are upset but my room 21 on 2nd floor was clean yes there was stains on the wall x1 but the lady who cleans every day is superb, I looked at one of the rooms she was cleaning if I left a room in that state clearly some people have no shame. The rooms where cleaned everyday to a high standard the white fluffy towels of a good quality, the bathroom was cleaned everyday , and extra shower jel and shampoo added so they are trying to give it a better outlook for a better clientele Unfortunately I think some clients dont appreciate how hard she works to maintain a certain standard. TV and tea and coffee facilities are pretty good, you just have to ask, the buisnessmen that use it look after their surroundings as they respect, a nice room very warm and no matter what anyone says the staff at Spar are lovely

Arrived to find that the check in had to be in the Spar in the next building. There was a lot of ice and there was a path clear to the entrance. Which was locked. Had to go round the building on a "path" which was dangerously iced over. Health and safety? Do me a favour. Then I had to provide identification AND a deposit (cash only) before I was given a key. What kind of hotel does that? When I reached the room by walking back over the iced path - no attempt made to clear it, the final laugh that the lodge owners had was that there was a kettle and tea and coffee but no milk. To me this is clear that there is a slapdash attitude to their customers. I will not stay here again.

I read a few reviews and wondered what it might be like quite prepared to come home after watching the Rugby if it was as bad as those reviews. The room I had was large, seemed to be recently refurbished and clean and. tidy with tea and. coffee making facilities. Large walk in shower and bathroom. My adult children said the same about their rooms. Very quiet except the odd late night door closing. Sure there was a coffee stain on the wall but nothing major and pleasantly surprised. Bearing in mind there was a group of Rigby fans staying I didn?t hear them at all. Clean sheets and towels although they weren?t luxury bath sheets but I didn?t pay a luxury price. Handy with Greggs, Starbucks, Subway and Spar close by in the service station which again was quiet.

This lodge is on the M61 services which is not a problem and is budget priced However even budget hotels should have clean and hygienic rooms - the one I stayed in with two single beds was frankly disgusting with horribly stained carpets, liquid splashes on the wall, stained bathroom corners, floor and ceiling and a blocked shower drain full of hair and other stuff I didn?t delve into! I would have thought coming off the back of covid cleanliness would be a priority! Never again! ?

We booked a room for a one night stay however after enduring the (very bad) check in experience with rude staff, we checked out as soon as we saw our room. The room itself had an overwhelming smell of weed and the walls were covered in what appeared to be urine and semen. These stains hadn?t even been attempted to be cleaned which suggests the rooms aren?t cleaned- this, along with the black hairs floating on the pillow cases and bed. The rest of the walls were marked and there were punch marks in them also. Very questionable characters were hanging around in the carpark outside the lodge and coming and going also, which made me feel very unsafe and highly anxious during the short time we were there. After deciding to leave we went back to the Spar and told them we were leaving, to which the staff did not bat an eyelid. No questions at all were asked or apologies given. Again, this suggests that this happens often which is concerning. Would not recommend this place, even for a one night stay. Highly unsanitary, unclean and uncomfortable!

Horrendous place to stay. No reception in building and lots of noise for hours in the room above (very concerning) reported to Rivington Lodge but no response. Got no sleep and felt frightened. Awful room. Few days later got a parking fine from parking Eye although I gave our reg at the SPAR shop. Now have the hassle of trying to sort that ?

The room was disgusting. Stains on the floor blood and wine stains all over the floor and wall, heating didn?t work, mold the bath and shower head, fire alarm went off and had to go outside, handprints on the walls and headboards, grease on the remote, smelt like damp, egg stain on the ceiling, dints and cracks all over the walls, stains on the pillows and duvet, was up all night with pounding headache and felt sick the whole time AVOID AT ALL COST.

Had to stay over with my husband for work, and we'd have rather slept in the car. Husband has stayed in the most dire army accommodation and he would rather go back there than return here. The check-in staff were rude and condescending. The entrance to the building looks pretty grim, and it doesn't get better. Opening the door to the room, the smell of damp and mould slaps you in the face, the kettle was filled with stagnant water, the carpet is filthy, and paint peeling from the walls. The bathroom smelt even worse than the rest of the room. There's even a small hole in my wall that looks like it was created by someone's knuckle.

If I could give them a zero i would lets begin with the booking process I booked my booking through a agent booking.com I opted for the " pay on arrival option " i placed my booking through Booking .com but Rivington are the charging party to which in the terms of the booking able to charge up to two days before anything before this they're entiled to request a pre authrisation payment however, this hotel was naughty and sneaky and taken the full payment as a so called pre payment not two days early as their terms of booking allow them to but wait " FOUR WEEKS EARLY " which again I accepted I cancelled no courtesy at all of the hotel I called up spoken to a cashier called Michelle who come across on the phone like she was in an aboslute daze and did not even know what day of the week it was then as I was trying to get my money back I asked for the general manager name " MAME " i thought great a professional man " HOW WRONG WAS I " the complete opisite I feel Rivington lodge seriously need to re gig their and look closely at they're recruiting in their hotels this man was so unprofessional rude and a dam right joke he didn't even know how he could help and think outside the box he come across more like a grease monkey ion garage then a so called professional who did openly admited he didn't know what to do to refund me my money he said he'll speak to someone and for him to do that it will take 48 hours yeah i know joke so I told him I want a call the following day and if he had any element of genuine customer service he'd of phoned me back today I would of he didn't I was not expecting any better this hotel is suitable for a emergency accomodation last minute thing do not expect any half presentable in this hotel the three I spoken to here are from it and between them have not helped their customer I am still waiting for my money and have accepted I am going to lose £39

Really not as bad as people make out. Budget cheap and cheerful. Does for business or a stop over on a journey, walls are in bad condition in some rooms but it?s always clean and tidy. Got everything you need, wifi is decent, tea and coffee facilities. Hardly the ritz but it does the job

Absolutely disgusted with the service I received trying to check in. Firstly I booked online via card for 2 nights then I was to pay a 50 pound deposit fee on arrival, on arrival there?s a notice telling bookings to check in at the spar next to it, I paid a 17 pound taxi fair there, I got greeted by the most rudest, abrupt, and customer service ever, she said sorry but it?s for workers you can?t stay, on which I explained I?d made payment online 80 pound, how do I request my refund? On which she rudely said well you?ll have to go on the website, then completely ignored me. I?m homeless at the moment and sofa surfing, at the end of the day I understand the Covid situation but they quiet happily accepted my card payment. I was left stood in the rain waiting for yet again another taxi. But the woman behind the desk needs sacking, her attitude stunk... disgusted!!!

My complaint yesterday to head office - we will see if i gain a refund. You can get a premier for 32 pounds instead. I attended rivington lodge yesterday and stayed last night. Throughout the night there were vandals making noise and antisocial behaviour, they come in the doors that open to the building which has no reception. They drink, smoke and smash things up, they scream. They wheel spin in the car park. Finally at 4am the fire alarm went off. There is no site manager to support the people staying over. The man Ahmed who is not trained in health and safety tried his best but, it took a while to turn the alarm off. No fire brigade came out and no site manager. We decided to leave at 5am due to lack of sleep. There are a number of issues with this site: * There is no real safety procedure, as a single woman I was pleased my boyfriend was with me as it is a very different place at night to what it is in the day. Its like a ghetto! * There is no one checking on us and no reception. * I have been told that this happens frequently and yet nothing has been done about it. * Although Ahmed was very good and lovely, he is not trained. * The lodge is next to a pertrol station - if it was a huge fire, the whole place could have blown up and yet, it didn't seem a priority last night for a manager to answer their phone of which he tried to ring several numbers many times. I think that you will agree that the service is not just shabby but, dangerous. I would like a full refund as I found it necessary to drive home at 5am. Which then ruined my Saturday. Compensation would be reasonable.

Strange thing: check in at the spar. Rooms recently refurbished rather clean. Vey reasonable price. Would be good value for money for a 2 persons room but the family room not so. Not enough bedding or towels for 4 people and the sofa bed is very uncomfortable. Perfect for a cheap accommodation for one night stay only.
