Always love a wander around HMV with the family when we go to Manchester. Served by a super friendly assistant, think their name was Lou? I wanted to leave a review by the card she gave me but lost my receipt. Please send my thanks to her for the impeccable service ??

It's just fine at best but I've been ID'd on movies so inconsistently that I am just fed up with it this HMV. One day I can waltz out with an 18 and I seriously just got ID'd for a 15 movie? Just shop anywhere else but here.

Fairly straight forward. You in, browse records, surrounded by hipsters talking about Pink Floyd and which album is the best. But somehow they cannot understand idea of shower. Then you see that many lp's is on offer 2x40£ or 3x55. But that's mostly Pana del Ray or Cigarettes after sex. Then you realise that soundtrack section is gone (something I saw in many stores) and buying nothing ypu decide to go to Piccadilly Records. It's good to have such stores. You can see what's interesting, what's new and what to avoid. Morrissey ? ?.It's well organised, maintained, staff always helpful. Yeah, not bad.

The HMV Shop @ Manchester..Also known as 'His Master's Voice', this formerly-global British music and entertainment retailer now almost operates exclusively in the United Kingdom and Ireland..Stocking mainly audio devices, blu-rays, CDs, audio cassettes, vinyl records, DVDs, record players, and headphones, the advent of digital music has resulted in their increasingly niche business..Their iconic logo, of a dog (mixed terrier breed named Nipper) listening to a gramophone was derived from a 1898 painting by British painter Francis Barraud.

It was OK. Went to cash desk in the CD department and waited for over 5 minutes for someone to come and take payment, had to go looking for an assistant to be told we needed to go downstairs to pay. Suggested that they should put a sign stating that. Assistant was quite rude at this suggestion.

Original review (1 year ago) was 5*....Update: I visited this HMV for the Malevolence event. I had an incident (ongoing health problems) and the staff were extremely fast in supporting and assisting me.Before the event started the staff like always, are friendly and extremely helpful.Thank You HMV Manchester & Arndale Staff.

This used to be my favourite store in the arndale, but now they have less films on the shelves and is more marketed towards the merchandise, which is quite disappointing.I am guessing that the chain is having a reboot and trying to make it work better for the average consumer, not a physical media fan like myself.I would?ve given the original store five stars, but the changed it quite drastic for me.

Used to be one of the best shops in the Arndale but the new "referb" has made it one of the worst. They've taken half of the shelving units out and left loads of empty space and replaced sections with more toys and t-shirts (This is supposed to be a shop for music and film not toys!). 4K and Blu-ray no longer have a chart or a new section. All films are crammed together so you spend ages tilting your head at all the spines. Went in today looking for a new 4K steelbook that's on their website but not in store for some reason, in fact I couldn't see any 4K releases from this month. Physical retail is dying because of these stupid decisions.

Over priced but there is some good stuff. Depends on how much you are willing to pay.Fopp and Vinyl Exchange offer far more affordable stuff.
