This Sainsbury's Local store is in a good location in Manchester city centre, it is located on Cross Street, just off Market Street, and a stone's throw away from the Royal Exchange Theatre. The store is pretty small, and there are of course larger convenience stores around the city centre including other Sainsbury's Local as well as rival chains, but the selection in this store isn't too bad if you're looking for the bare minimum of essentials from milk to bread, there's also a small yet reasonable free from the range with some cupboard gluten-free products. The to-go food and drink section, including bottled drinks and sandwiches, is also good, I didn't notice a coffee machine though, which would be useful. The store supports Sainsbury's Smartshop, which was added recently, this means you can scan and bag items as you're walking around the store, before paying via your mobile and leaving. I did struggle to find the "exit area", and was told there wasn't one, and to just exit out of the app, which then generated a receipt. The staff are friendly, prices are a little pricey but no more expensive than any other Sainsbury's Local store.3* - OK, not the best convenience store in town, but the staff are nice, the location is good, and the selection is reasonable.

Went in Wednesday about 4pm ,they didn't have the product I wanted on the shelf. I asked a young man with gingery/fair hair and glasses. He was busy but still went and checked for me and told me even though they didn't have it they did at another store and told me where that is. I then got to self checkout and even though the young man was still busy at a point closer to the till, he was still observant enough to know I needed approval on a energy drink and came over and approved it without me having to ask. Its the little things that make a shopping experience a bit better and this young man did really well.Good staff matter.Well done kid

Make sure you check the price before you pay at till. I had a screaming baby so didn?t look before I paid contactless and the cashier overcharged me. I called customer service after having seen my bank balance and they didn?t want to help.

Went in just before 9am, peak commuter time and there were no staff about to authorise my purchase (energy drink) I waited for longer than I should have and had a quick look around a few corners to see if I could grab someone's attention, nobody. Had to leave without completing my purchase as I was going to be late to work, resulting in no breakfast. V unprofessional, there should always be someone in the front of the store.

A standard Sainsbury's look local with what products you would expect.

Very rude and poor mannered security guard who just walks straight through you as your browsing. Won?t be shopping here again!

It is a branch that takes great care of the details. In its stores you can find everything. the prices are acceptable, because you have to keep in mind that most of the things they offer are fresh.

Since their food is a bit posher, you can trust the quality. It's just a shame they made the grocery department smaller.
