Love this building. It's a gem in didsbury, beautiful and elegant. This large building was once the White Lion Hotel (see the white lion on the tower), otherwise called the Withington Ale House. It is a Grade II Listed building. There was a previous building on this site, built sometime in the C18th, also called the White Lion, which was probably altered or rebuilt in 1840. The present building has an inset on the north wall (chimney exterior) with a date of 1880. The renovations to incorporate a mini-supermarket took place in 2010/11. Much of the old interior has been preserved, including some fine stained glass and, in the basement, a well. There is a yard at the rear with a coach-house. Formerly white lion Hotel now sainsbury's local.

Nice to have a Sainsbury's nearby. Rarely has what you need somehow. I think we could do without it to be fair.

This is the best sainsburys local In Manchester without a doubt. Store is covid secure and social distancing is taken very seriously. Regular cleaning of tills and baskets done. Colleagues and managers are extremely friendly . I would like to give a special mention to the management team every member makes such an effort with myself thank you to a great team

poor staff. Horrendous experience at 7.44pm - absolutely chock full of people not wearing face coverings, not maintaining social distance. No wonder we are still in lockdown. The only staff intervention was "do you want to do self-service checkout" when more than 3 people queueing. Won't be returning until clear enforcement - just not worth the risk

Nice and normal small shopping spot. Sometimes there are problems going on outside, but either way it's great.

Overpriced, and the computer system is constantly malfunctioning. Only upside is they're open late on Sunday

Good selection of products, prices are fine. Selfserve machines that accept cash, when a que builds up they are fast to pit another staff member on the till, unlike other chain stores nearby. Friendly staff tops it off.

Proper naughty Sainsbury's, always got everything I need. Great selection of sandwiches and craft beer.
