I had a meal in your restaurant with family, shortly after the hotel changed it's name. Thefood was good and it proved to be a memorable evening.Noteworthy details: I lived nearby but my cousin used to stay at your hotel when he visited from his home in North London.

Went for a one night stay and sparkling afternoon tea. The room was fine and check-in was easy, however we were disappointed with afternoon tea. We had a Red Letter Days voucher to use and only chose this hotel as a bottle of prosecco was advertised rather than a single glass that's usually offered elsewhere. When we arrived the table was set and we were brought two layers of small cakes along with about 4 different finger sandwiches, none of which were particularly appealing. We were brought two dirty glasses with bits floating around in the prosecco. I asked if we could have a bottle and we were brought a cheap 5.5% 'prosecco'. We left after half an hour, disappointed.

Having been to a number of weddings at the The Bower/The Victoria in the past, I was looking forward to attending the afternoon tea for my friend's celebration. Unfortunately, it was a real let-down, with the exception of the company and fun we all had.Although the waitressing staff we're jolly and polite, the sandwiches left a lot to be desired. Didn't get a cup of tea so had to ask for one. Was given a pg tips tea bag and told there was water further down on the table to make it. Asked for some fresh hot water and in fairness the waitress brought it and was polite; but I shouldn't have needed to ask and only one cup of tea at an afternoon tea ? Obvious training issues and service standards. The bar staff were not trained, even the young women who was supposed to be managing the bar was not trained adequately and I would dread to think how they would have coped had the bar been busy - it took over 15 minutes to be served with my order.I ordered 4 drinks in the first round from the young lady behind the bar - a diet coke, white wine and lemonade, a glass of merlot and a sparkling water. Was asked numerous times 'what?' Given a pint glass for the small bottle of coke. Full bottle of lemonade poured into the glass and white wine on top, didn't know what merlot was or sparkling water and in the end ended settled for the dregs of a bottle of shiraz and a tonic water. This was with some input from 'the manager'.It was a celebration so I didn't make a fuss.Second round, served by 'the manager' who couldn't find the shiraz, so dissappeared for 5 minutes looking for another bottle. Poured the full bottle of coke into my friend's tia Maria and had difficulty remembering what the order was to put it in the till.Had this been a back street pub and cheap prices it would have been funny but it's a hotel and the service was not what you would expect.Whilst waiting for our cab, we spoke to a couple who had come up from London and were staying overnight at the hotel. They detailed a whole host of problems they had experienced whilst trying to check in not, I'm not going to write what they said because it wasn't my experience and therefore hearsay, however it did highlight what I had felt and the problems I experienced. As previously mentioned, I have always enjoyed my visits here but at present, there are a lot of training issues to be resolved to get the service right otherwise you are going to lose a lot of custom.

Would not recommend this hotel in any shape or form! Rooms were disgusting. Not even remotely clean, leftover sheets and bedding in room from previous stay, dust and cobwebs everywhere. Photos definitely very deceiving so be incredibly cautious when booking. Also, didn?t realise covid wasn?t a thing anymore when we stayed? As no staff were wearing masks at any point!AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Stayed here recently for a couple of nights found the majority of staff helpful, breakfast was disappointing for me had full English both days each day had a different food content also bar closed at different times depending on staff on duty. Room nice and clean but no air-con and window would only open a few cm, previous stay here was much better but that was pre covid

Arrived at the reception and the grumpy old woman told us there was no room booked for us due to a glitch in the system! We travelled 100 miles away! I asked why she didn?t inform me in the morning via call/email. she said they didn?t have my contact details! Absolutely ridiculous as I left my email and number on the booking form! Furthermore, I showed her there were rooms still showing as available on various sites but she kept saying it?s a ?glitch?! There were no updates on their social media accounts to notify the public of and ?glitches?! Either she gave our room away to another guest or the management and organisation of the hotel is atrocious! Make sure you call them to confirm you have a booking.
